“Book elsewhere, Trust me.”
We booked this hotel due to its affordability, only to be stung with a $174 "cleaning fee" which wasn't shown on our invoice under "not included charges". Reading other reviews it seems like a few people have been stung, not the hotels fault (clearly Agoda's) but the staff at the hotel could not have cared less. Was forced to pay or have no where to stay!! We also reported a broken TV on the day of check in and they didn't seem to care, and did nothing about it. The only good was location and the pool, but there are so many other hotels in the area which you should look at instead.

“Dubious sales practises”
This property knew that Agoda was displaying the property prices without the compulsory USD175 cleaning fee. Despite this, they did not act and let people be faced with this undisclosed fee at check-in. According to reviews on google maps, many travellers had the exact same bad experience for months. Unreal in 21st century service-oriented USA

“Not good for value”
I was charged $206 of cleaning service for only 3 days there. However the room is not made up during my stay!

“0 parking available, no housekeeping, could not provide a proper check in time, cockroach in the room”
Partner and I were 15mins early for our check in and the reception told us the cleaner JUST started cleaning and we therefore had to come back at a later time. Also, there was no parking at the building so we were told to try and park at a different hotel. This meant that you had to walk about 10mins there and 10mins back each time you needed your vehicle. This wasn’t so much of an inconvenience for us, but should be stated nonetheless for other travellers. During our stay, we realized there was no housekeeping for our suite. The reception said it’s because they aren’t a “hotel” but we still had to pay exorbitant cleaning fees upon check in. We had a cockroach in our suite that my husband killed and flushed down. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend going here. Pay a little extra and go elsewhere.

“Fantastic location - 5 minute walk to Waikiki Beach”
I enjoyed my stay. My room had a kitchenette - great for mini dinners. Coffee was fantastic when it was available. Staff amazing and extremely helpful and patient with enquiries. The area is pretty safe for a solo traveler. Loved the fact that it was a walking distance to Waikiki Beach and restaurants. Easy access to public transport and I loved the fact that i could utilize the washing machine facilities at the hotel also.

Great location and great pool. Most hotels in that area are so expensive. This hotel provides the same at a great price. You are so close to the beach. Highly recommend this hotel.

“Good location”
Bamboo is an older complex, the rooms are small, no house keeping, the fridge in the kitchenette leaked, we asked for twin beds, being me and 2 daughters, however we’re given a double bed and couch, with no additional linen to use. The pool facilities and staff of the restaurant were great, it is a great area to relax in for quiet sunny pool days. The location is central to everything.

“Stay Somewhere Else.. Better Places around”
We stayed 2 Nights and glad we only stayed 2 nights as this place needs a major refurbishment.. The place is dirty and not welcoming at all the beds are suppose to be Queens but its just a double. The elevator doors inside & out havnt been cleaned in years the walls and floors are dirty even the elevator floors are really dirty. Give this place a massive MISS pay an extra $20 to stay somewhere else.

“Nice place...simple, no extras”
Rooms pretty nice. Updated somewhat...no frills at all in regard to services. Restaurant was terrific by the pool. Amber, Liz, Ashley, and Savannah are WONDERFUL servers. Treat you like family:)

“ Hotel hopping in honolulu”
Stayed in Honolulu for 14 days and stayed in 3 different hotels. I recommend Hilton Garden Inn, Sheraton Princess Kaiulani. Why I won’t recommend is Bamboo Waikiki Hotel: - very old hotel and probably refurbished 30 years ago - the toilet sink was leaking and no one came to check it out or fix it. - get your own bath towels, toiletries, etc - no housekeeping services - throw out your garbage -couch at the lobby was dirty. Maybe as old as the hotel - very creepy and dark atmosphere in the lobby and tight walkway going to bedrooms. -

“Not what we expected!”
Our room was clean however the common areas of the property were not. The lobby and elevators were in extremely poor condition. Staff was very limited and the front desk attendants were not very helpful nor friendly. This place is definitely in need of some updates/Reno’s as well as lessons concerning customer service.

“Just weird. ”
Rooms were not clean. Key cards didn’t work and when we got new ones from the staff, all they needed was a room number to run it again without any ID or even asking for our names. We left our bags on the last day for bag storage and 6 hours later they hadn’t left the side of the unattended concierge. The pool was pretty, though. Although only the restaurant owner and good friends are allowed to be there after 10.

If you are looking cheap hotel close to the the beach then this would be a good start, but don’t expect much. You have to clean your own room because house keeping only cleans the rooms once the guest have checked out, there are only 21 parking spaces at the hotel for $30 a night and they are first-come-first-served. The hotel has a small restaurant that only open from 5pm-10pm No bar because they lost their liquor license. The next time I come back to Hawaii I’m going to spend the money to get a Quality hotel/resort.

“Receptionist rude and dismissive ”
Receptionist was curt and rude. Asked her about parking options around the hotel and she was very rude and dismissive as if I was being a bother for asking. This receptionist was working December 15 arrived at 10 pm.

“A tropical super 8”
Was honestly pretty disappointed upon arrival. First we get charged a resort fee even though with agoda it said all fees and taxes included. Then the minute we get to our room, the room had a musky smell to it. As I go to unpack, I sit on my bed to find out it’s super damp so I asked for some new sheets. They gave me new sheets but no blanket and I had to make my bed. Ended up using a fleece thin blanket for 4 days as I still never got afford a clean blanket. Day 2 I go for a shower but I didn’t have much towels in my room so I called to be told they don’t have any towels till noon and I has to ask for a hairdryer. As I’m getting ready the wifi and tv goes out for over 24 hours, even had a maintenance man come in n out of our room. The list goes on and on. However the other annoying factor was the pool was closed for my entire trip due to cleaning. And their bar was a BYOB with very limited menu options available. Otherwise the hotel is so super close to the beach which was good since we tried to spend as little time as possible in the room.

“Highly Recommend”
We enjoyed our stay at the Aqua Bamboo. The beach really is only a couple blocks away, and the hotel is very well located in terms of restaurant selection and availability to the beach. The staff was very friendly and pleasant, the room worked out well with the mini kitchenette, and we loved the pool with the little restaurant where we could get a nice dinner and bring in our own bottle of wine. Just overall very pleasant and relaxing.

“Decent Hotel”
Its a decent hotel, pretty close to the beach. Staff wasnt too friendly/helpful. I had reserved their onsite parking, which was below the building, pretty small area but fair spots.

Hotel was a little out of date in the halls but the rooms were decent. Hardly any car parking maybe 5 stalls. Can’t fit anything taller than a mini van. Hotel guest relations sucked! They excepted you to wait all days for towels they don’t have them on site you have to order them. Asked for sheets had to wait all day for those. My husband and I were checking the bed and the sheets had blood stains on the sheets and cover to the mattress. They charge you 5.00 for a lost or misplaced key. And your view is literally a wall or the apartments next to you. The bar and restaurant staff on the other hand were awesome! The chef was great and they were very accommodating.

“Pathetic hotel not worthy of even a star”
They charge you additional 100$ for resort and cleaning fees on top of the room charges once you arrive at the hotel. Beware of this tactic when booking as I thought I was booking a cheaper option as I just needed a night to sleep before boarding my flight early next morning. The hotel itself is stinky, small and old and in no way deserves $200+ charges for a night. I couldn’t even have a good sleep knowing I wasted my money on such a pathetic hotel.

“Good location... room was lacking”
The good. Staff were helpful. Great location. Pool area was nice. Good free shuttle available. The bad. Construction happening. Very noisy. No bar no restaurant. Coffee maker in the lobby was out of order. Plumbing backed up. Mini fridge needed repair. The staff did address issues promptly, but it was an inconvenience. We will not be staying here in the future.

“Fantastic Experience and Great Value For Money”
The Bamboo Waikiki Team were incredible. We had an early arrival and our room was ready, and they were generous when it came to a late checkout also! The room was clean, cool and comfortable and a perfect retreat from a long day of surfing or exploring Oahu. The pool area was a lovely retreat and the poolside bar will look great once completed. We'd definitely stay here again! The location is perfect and incredibly close to Waikiki beach! Thanks to all the great staff who made our holiday a pleasure!

Poolside area is average, old loungers, not very inviting area to relax in. renovations going on at the moment, so super loud drilling and banging going on, so you couldn’t relax out there even if you wanted to. We were very fortunate to have an upgrade to the 12th floor, room was fabulous and totally different to what you’d expect. If you can extend your budget, it’s worth it otherwise you could end up in a poky room that is very outdated. Do your homework and find a place that suits your budget / needs.

“Great value small hotel”
Great hotel to stay at, which was close to all. Very helpful staff. Only thing, rooms need new quite air-cons, as they were too loud.

“最高!”
Stayed a week in aqua bamboo. After checkin in, we were litle disappointed on the room since we had asked for high floor and were on the 2nd floor street side (noisy). We went down and asked gently if we could get another room and the staff was really understanding. Got new set of keys, and after few minutes, we were opening the door of a suite room. made our stay the best, thank you to the kind staff really for the upgrade !!

“Not the best hotel ”
Hotel is in a great location. Staff is friendly, hotel is very out dated and I had a roach in my room. It was not worth the money I paid.

“Great location, affordable,& nice”
The staff was amazing from the start. Helpful, Friendly and knowledgeable. Great amenities. Its walking distance to almost anything in Waikiki if not they got a shuttle for you.

The hotel is located just a block from Waikiki beach, the staffs were nice and helpful, but the room was a bit old. Worth your money!

“Great location, average room”
Close to the beach and buses run right outside. Stayed in a studio apartment which was really just a hotel room with very small kitchen area, not really enough to cook but ok for breakfast and sandwiches etc. Pool was good. Perfect hotel if you're planning to be out most of the time but room is on the small side for families.

“Good but old”
This was a nice place to stay. The a/c was noisy but kept the room cool and quiet from the street sounds. Well worth the stay for the price.
