The accommodations were excellent however we had to check out at 6 AM and there was no one there that knew how to check this out we ended up waiting 30 minutes almost late for our flight because the person there had to call someone in order to figure out what he must do to check us out.
---------------------- i was on a budget, a solo woman traveler and needed a super quiet place to relax on a clean beach/sea. this is what i found. however, i didn't expect to see monitor lizards on the property and as I am scared of reptiles this was a problem for me. they also climb the trees so it is useless to change room. breakfast had the basics: juices, tea, coffee, toasts, croissants, salads, egg station to order your freshly made eggs, yogurt, milk cereals, butter, jams, honey, fruit. no pancakes, no waffles.
Because of double booking, i couldn't get the beachfront bungalow i had reserved months earlier! they brushed it off by saying they gave me an "upgrade", but the toilet n that room was broken! they said the handles were broken & that they'd fix it the next day, but they never did! they just just left the top off, so every time we used it we had to push the lever down that's inside the tank itself! how gross! there's beer & other refreshments in the room, & I wanted an opener for the beer bottle! they asked my room number then hung up! Okay, I'm waiting & waiting, no one came! called again, another person says we must bring the bottle to the kitchen for them to open it, they won't bring openers to the room! It's sooo dumb, & a 1st for me! point is, even I waited, & even I didn't get the beachfront bungalow I had reserved, they never apologized or had the common sense of saying sorry! Having a great place is fine, but when management sucks it ruins everything! NO recommendations here!!!
We booked an ocean view room and when we arrived we were put in a sea view balcony room which is only a partial sea view, much smaller room and much smaller balcony. When I talked to the reception about it they acted like that was what I had booked and charged us to upgrade to the ocean view room which we had already paid for. Make sure to check your booking closely so you don't get cheated like we did. Unfortunately the internet was not working properly when I went to look into the situation so I was unable to check properly until I got home.
This hotel has so much potential. It is super cute, very well situated but the staff just don't want to be there.
Even though the place was nice, great location, great staff, etc... The bathroom stinks! Please take care of your pipes.
Nice bag for beach! Towels should be renewed...
I only stayed here for one night but could easily have stayed for longer. The rooms are beautiful, the food was great and the staff were super friendly :)
great location on the beach. simple, quiet hotel, tiny swim pool, but you have the gorgeous beach at the doorstep.
Second time here, still the best value-money option. Situated on the quiet part of Mae nam, with private beach and very nice garden within bungallows very well maintained thanks to friendly staff ready to help you at all time. No issue during our stay, recommend and hope will be back soon ....
I arrived and I straight away was very disappointed by the hotel. Given what I paid, €60 a night, I know not to get 5 star but this was advertised as 3/4 star. This was 2/3 star - so very over priced. Bathroom like guest house (hence no pictures on website), hole on floor, room not sea view despite booking, balcony faced a wall and breakfast was very basic. Pool was closed and so small. Location ok but stay in Lamai or chaeweng there is not much in this area
We had a beach front room which was awesome and clean. Staff was friendly and helpful. Free breakfast was more than adequate. The only complaint was the restaurant food, and drinks were ridiculously priced high, but there were plenty of reasonably priced restaurants within easy walking distance!!
Don't know why people have not mentioned this but there is construction going on. real loud jack hammer every day from 9am until 5pm i wasnt going to writed this but The cleaners are too pushy to check u out before 12.
The staff were really lovely at this hotel. However, we were initially very disappointed with the room as the seaview room which was advertised and which the photos portrayed had no sea view. You could see a tiny bit of ocean when standing on the corner of the balcony but it really just looked over roofs and there were really loud power lines next to the balcony and a construction site next door which was noisy. They eventually agreed to put us in a new room the next day which was much better but still not what was advertised but you could still hear some construction and then they started building a dance floor over the pool beneath us which was really noisy too. (That won't happen often though it was just for a NY party but was still annoying and not so relaxing!) The staff were lovely and the hotel was cute but overall it was overpriced and just be careful with booking the seaview room as none of them face the ocean or have much of a view of it.
These are lovely bungalows located right on the beach. We found the room to be a good size, it was only the sink area that was too small for our toiletries. The balcony overlooking the beach was really nice, especially in the warm evenings. The location on the beach is lovely, but we found the village of Mae Nam to be really dull. They have a market every week but we missed this and found most of the bars and restaurants closed or closing when we arrived. Most things are empty and shut by 9p.m. We didn't see any backpacker types or even many tourists, it was mostly local expats in the bars. The staff at the hotel are very sweet but speak absolutely no English so communication is a big problem. They couldn't help us with any of our requests and the taxi rates quoted are about double the price compared to if you just flag one down at the top of Walking Street. The main road at the top of Walking Street is really busy and not possible to walk along so it's hard to see the surrounding area.
narrow way to get inside and no car park space much only 1 car.
Good place, Good staff, Very beautiful
Staff was very friendly . Room was quite small but it was ok for 2 persons . Happy buy 1 get 1 free for a drink was perfect
We paid almost 3000 Baht per night for a room that had a great view but was very small and lacked proper facilities such as a decent bathroom and wardrobe. It was very cramped in this room, so difficult for us to find space to put our gear. The buffet breakfast was bland. For similar money it's possible to find amazing beachfront hotels at Lamai.
Friendly staff, nice room. Beach is a bit disappointing me,not really value for money because everything is a bit expensive, espeacially taxi fees unless you rent a motor. If you bargain with taxi driver, they are rude enough to ask you to walk by yourself.
Food/view/room are fantastic
I was worried about staying here after seeing the reviews after we had already booked. Location was great, on the beach and the area around is really great.. Nice area to relax and have a drink and they set up bean bags on the beach at night. Staff were nice but not very attentive. When we sat in beach trying to get their attention for a drink was difficult most times we had to go up to the desk to find someone to request a drink. They call people from the beach to come in to eat or drink but then tend to disappear. Rooms were clean and sheets seemed well cleaned. A little musty smelling but open up doors and windows and was fine. The bathrooms could do with a revamp but overall was a nice stay. I would probably stay at another place next time.
We simply enjoy every moment at the Hammock, nice location on beach to walk. Employes are realy nice, their for you. simply love it
When you have sewerage coming up out of the ground 4ft from your room this is not good. Also due to the wild weather they have had the front of the hotel facing the beach has structural damage and the beautiful beach has been replaced with a polluted creek that flows across the beach that has to be crossed via a rickety wooden bridge
Beautiful Resort located at the quiet MaeNam Beach. Own private beach, nice Bungalows, clean, Breakfast was ok could be more selection. Only con: Bungalows are small and there is no storage. We will come back
Location is good, beach is nice and rooms are clean but very small. Staff is not very enthusiastic but friendly. Can recommend it for an overnight stay.
Very good
booked 2 nights, but because of torrential rain we couldn't leave samui. asked receptionist if we could book an additional night. she lied and said only 1 room was available @ 4000 THB. (the most expensive room listed on agoda was 3000 THB an because of the storm the place was hardly full.) i promptly went back to my room and booked an additional night for 2255 THB on agoda. went back to the receptionist and showed her my booking an could see by the look on her face she knew i had busted her in a lie. to top things off, when we left the next day she booked a taxi to take us to the ferry and they dropped us off at the wrong pier. had to walk 1 km with our bags in the rain. p.s. their restaurant gave us food poisoning. worst place we stayed in thailand an were so happy when we finally escaped THE HAMMOCK.
I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, due to the rudeness of the staff and how they don't value their customers. When we arrived we were supposed to be in a beach front bungalow and they put us in a back room that looked at a wall. They told us they would comp our dinner and move us the following day. They had a special comp menu, which is when I realized this happens often. The next day we were talking to another couple and they mentioned that they got. "Free room upgrade" to the beach bungalow for the previous night. This was when we realized they did this to THREE couples staying there! Throughout the day we have 6 couples changing rooms. Throughout the whole process the manager was rude and acting like it wasn't her fault... even though she had given the room away for a free upgrade to other people. There are very many hotels in Koh Samui, and I am sure many of them have much better customer service. It was just a poorly run business.
Initially we were room moved 3 times due to toilet issues (smelly and broken toilets in 2 of the 3 rooms), we were also over charged upon our check-out, but this was rectified when I brought it to the receptionist attention. Other than the aforementioned issues, the hotel is hotel is clean (apart from a cockroach issue). The breakfast was good and plentiful and the pool and restaurant area is inviting. The beach was not so good, but we may have chosen a bad time to visit. On a side note. The hotel offers DVD players, but no DVD's to rent or borrow.
This is nice hotel but room quite small also swimming pool,
good
Nice n clean room Good lication Relax n quiet
The room too smaller
This resort has its own beachfront and away from crowded area. If you need quite and relaxing time, just laying idly in the beach, then this is your resort. But if you want to be near where the buzz and action is then this is not your resort. The receptionist assigned at night time spoke very fluent English. I've been to Thailand so many times but this is actually the first time I met someone who really speaks good English. Other staff also speaks good and very helpful. Cons, the AC in the room is noisy despite their best to try to fix it for two days. The pool is small but this is insignificant. The breakfast is almost always the same everyday.
We had a room right in front of the sea. Very friendly staffs.
We spent Three Days here during our honeymoon and really enjoyed our stay. The staff is smiling and friendly, the food excelent. The bungalows are cozy and the pool refreshing. If only the comunity could clean up the river which flows into the sea.
The Hammock Samui Beach Resort may not be a 5-star resort, but it offers the best of a beach-side holiday very few other resorts can offer. I stayed at the beachside bungalow - so open my door and I have the gorgeous sunrise and a huge stretch of beach ahead of me. Glorious without a doubt. The breakfast was simple yet excellent, wifi connection good. An excellent place to just enjoy the beach and waves and explore Samui town- and also close to Mae Nam pier in case you want to head to Ko Phangan!
Great beach front view and staff!
We got a quite good deal via agoda hence good value for money!
We had a fantastic time at The Hammock. The location was beautiful, being right on the beach front. The staff even went the extra mile to surprise us with a birthday cake on one of our group's birthday. Would thoroughly recommend!
Very good value for money. Completely satisfied.
This hotel is sorely in need of some cosmetic improvements. A coat of paint will go a long way in giving the hotel rooms a face lift. Their bed was very comfortable though. We were fully satisfied with their buffet breakfast. If they could only hire friendly wait staff. Their front desk clerks, Angelo and Ghandy make up for the wait staff's shortcomings. Maenam beach is great if you want to just relax. Unfortunately, we were a bit bored there. Seven nights is too long to stay in Koh Samui. Next time, we would probably stay in Bophut close to Fisherman's Village.
The vacation at the Hammock overall was very nice. Some good nearby restaurants make it easy and reasonably priced to have meals away from the hotel. The beach area is very nice. Sand under your feet in the water and normally calm surf make it great to swim about. Transportation and access to other activities was not a problem. We experienced three stormy weather days. Not much could be done about that but the staff worked hard to make people comfortable. Local areas flooded included roads and nearby hotels. But the Hammock was elevated higher than the other places so we stayed dry. Lost electricity a couple of times due to the weather. Staff worked hard to resolve problems and get the facilities back online ASAP. Internet is good. Better reception at the beach area. Based on number of users it can slow to a crawl. The one issue that could be improved is overall cleanliness. There was mold in the shower around the wood shelf, we never used the shower curtain as it seemed safer without it. The design of the bungalow room is difficult with the wash sink having no hot water. Hot water in the shower was fine. No closet but large hangers and hooks. We adapted as we swapped out swim wear, shorts, and t-shirts. We did get the breakfast package with our stay and it was good and consistent. Eggs to order and plenty to eat. The other meals we had at the Hammock were also very good. Couple of restaurant recommendations include the Moon Light restaurant and the local Thai restaurant (next to the Korean BBQ). Both places were very busy almost every night during our visit. The complimentary hammocks and umbrellas were a nice touch (first come basis daily) at the beach. Local beach vendors kept on coming. Overall not pushy and when you took a minute to buy something they are very nice people. The grilled corn on the beach was real good, especially with a cold adult beverage. Good vacation and enjoyed our stay.
fantastic
A relax place for you to stay if you want to far from the busy tourist place. you can rent a bike which only cost you thb250/day, ride to fisherman village only 8-10min. we only rent for 3 nights from agoda.com. but we decided to extended for three more nights. breakfast & the quite beach is our reason to extended the stay.. love this place and definitely will come back again.
Out stay in this hotel was great, the staff was very helpfull and friendly. Hotel is perfectly located, close to the Pier and with a lot of restaurants at a walking distance. Our room was clean and big enough - don't miss coktails during evenings at the beach ;)
fantastic
“Great location”
Location is great, right on the beach. Plenty of beach chairs and large pillows to relax during the day and in the evening. Pool is small but nice and clean. Room was too small and with a slippery floor. I have the feeling they have built too many rooms in a small area available resulting in the lack of open spaces between the buildings. Overall it is a place I would suggest with good weather conditions (when the room itself is not used too often).
