“Very friendly staff!”

We had to change room because of a ant invasion, but otherwise this hotel had a perfect location just next to the walkingstreet in Fisherman Village and the staff was very helpful and friendly.

Owner and receptionist/staff are supportive and friendly, small and simple rooms -but enjoyed comfort stay here. This hotel is located a bit off from the center of fisherman' village, it is good if you prefer to stay in quieter or more relaxed. (but it is still only 2 minutes to the center of the village, very convenient!!)

“Great location, helpful staff, great stylish room”

Classy and big clean room at the very beginning of fisherman market, best location cause it’s quiet but near to everything (don’t be scared about having a reggae bar under the hotel: they play after 23:00 just on Friday when night market takes place). Room has an ok aircon, safetybox, fridge, big lcd screen tv, a dedicated space to open a suitcase and a full wall sized shelf masonry you can put lot of thing on. Big bathroom with ok shower and flush. Superb wifi (can use skype call with no problem at all) Helpful staff will be always at disposal to solve all your problem (and could rent a scooter for you too avoiding the hassle to go to a renter and have to leave your passport there..) Hotel manager Therese is very kind and always available and you can trust her if needed Please note reception is not open 24h so better if you communicate or adapt your check in time..

“Very Average Hotel on this street”

There are better options on the walking street. It needs some TLC as its looking quite shabby. My room was on the ground level where there was no view from the balcony, and quite dark. The room was full of mosquitos, and spent much of the the time catching them. Bed linen had a lot of stains... should be replaced by now. Safes also need instructions. The "pool" is basically a jacuzzi - not a swimming pool as advertised.

“Great small budget / boutique hotel. Great owners”

Excellent stay. When we were leaving we caught a taxis to the airport & discovered we had left some items in our room. I rang the owners who managed to get in touch with our taxi driver who intern went back to our room picked up our items and met us back at the airport. Great service. Friday night markets right outside the hotel with excellent bargains. All the stalls had a great starting price. I would definitely stay here again.

“Lots of insects”

Our room in Cocooning was pretty much an insectarium, with huge 10cm spider sitting on the bathroom wall and occasional cockroaches here and there. I know that this kind "wildlife" is common in Thailand, but for some reason other hotels on the same road do not have this problem. Huh.

We had a great time staying at the Coocooning hotel and the owner Dave and Therese were so wonderful and helpful. They had a lot of suggestions for great places to visit and helped us get transportations around the island. Hotel is simple and clean. Bed is very comfy. Wireless internet was fast.

“Pleasant relaxed stay”

I spent four nights here early Sept 2013. As a solo female traveller and this being my first time in Thailand I found it to be a very pleasant stay. helped me to plan my stay by recommend ding me places and helped to arrange them. I went to Crystal Bay, a small but lovely beach between Chaweng and Lamai I think it is for a taxi fee of each way. I also went to Angthong Marine Park t but was a fab day out. Nearby you have the beach which was quiet and plenty of restaurants and some shops. I had a lovely Pad Thai dinner for 99baht at number 55 during the happy hour. Generally a meal will cost you 250baht upwards. This is a pleasant place if you just wish to relax. The room is comfortable and there is food, clothes, beach etc close by. There is also a nicer pool down the road that you pay a days use if you'd like. Also if the weather is bad (yes t did rain),staff has umbrellas and DVDs on standby which was great. I wish them all the best.

i arrived quiet late in the evening and nobody at the hotel reception, but after a phone call the manager came to the hotel to give the room key to me. i asked to rapair the air conditioner and as answer i got "we are in Thailand ..here nothing work perfeclty :((". 2 days after i got the room change and it' was better but the water pressure was the same as in the first room i have got.. very very little!! The day before i was goinig to have breakfast near the hotel (1:00 PM), i was walking on the street and i heard someone talking quiet laud in back to me "hey where you go? ..you have to pay the room cos you booked untill today" ..i didnt believed to my hears.. and i said that i booked untill the day after that!

“Well worth splashing out on ”

My boyfriend and I were on a fairly budget holiday so while not an expensive hotel, it was still splashing out for us considering what we were paying elsewhere. We were so glad we did! After a full day of traveling to get to Samui, this hotel gave us a wonderful first impression. The owners were very welcoming and friendly and made us feel like they genuinely took an interest in our holiday plans. The room we had was beautifully decorated and the air conditioning was good - very helpful when in Thailand! I highly recommend making sure you stay here on a Friday night, you can't get much closer to the night market!

We stayed in the suite and we had such a lovely stay. The suite has such a pleasant atmosphere and is so comfortable that you feel right away at home. The owners Dave & Theresa were really helpful especially ensuring that my fiancée was checked in and ensuring she was okay while I was still flying into Thailand. They arranged everything even offered getting a taxi to pick me up from Samui airport which I refused and now wished I had opted for. They were full of local knowledge and very helpful in directing us to the right motorbike rentals. The street outside is very pleasant and the area is very relaxed and rustic! Will definitely becoming back again guys! Thanks for a great time!

Cocooning hotel is under new management and no longer has a tapas bar but the english owner makes a mean fry up in the morning - really good. The owner is also really keen to help and give any advice on where to go etc. It's in a great location - not too quiet and too busy like in Chaweng. If you stay on a friday there is a busy walking market right on the doorstep. Plus the beach is close and you can go kayaking or windsurfing on the beach 10 minutes walk away.

in first room problem was the aircon,blowing all time against the pillows,causing very bad floo to both of us,had to see the doctor.aircon did not work properly.otherways room ok,hotel is not anymore tapasbar.

Staff are the nicest people on Samui. The room gives you the best value for the money. The hotel is situated at the end of the mainstreet with all the restaurants and shops of fishermansvillage. To the beach takes you about a 2min walk. This room was the best we haved sofar in this price range in Thailand

“Nice little hotel”

we had booked for one night but enjoyed our stay so returned for another two days later. the rooms are bright and clean and nicely decorated. the bed was comfortable and the owners (who took over the hotel only a couple of months ago) friendly and helpful. they offer a choice of different tasty combinations of english breakfast and recommended a meal (tasty and reasonable priced) at the small restaurant next door, which we would probably have overlooked. fisherman's village is a great location, with plenty of choice for restaurants (we had a lovely meal sitting directly on the beach) and the walking market on friday nights has plenty of atmosphere (and a fun karaoke stage).

“Good Hotel”

Excellent all round hotel,friendly service excellent inclusive breakfast. The current owners have recently taken over and are in the process of upgrading the facilities, but perhaps with a little more "speed" they could make it first rate. Particularly the small swiming pool needs some attention. But overall no real complaints and we where very satisfied.

From the outside it doesn´t look much, but when you get in and meet the owners you feel very welcome. The hotel is actually very cute, with lovely small rustique rooms that have everything you need. The location of the hotel is perfect, just by Fishermans Village where you can find a lot of nice restaurants and shopping. The hotel is very close to the restaurants but it´s in a very quiet position, perfect!

cocooning hotel was one of the favorite place from our travel. very little hotel, 7 rooms, with little retaurant and pool, but everyting so clean and lovely. the new owner and his wife are so nice and helpfull. all the rooms are perfectly clean, the decoration is simple but lovely, the beds are perfect, brand new! there is a little terrace for each room. the bar and restaurant give on the little road and is very quiet. the hotel is 2 minutes walk from fisherman village center with nice bars, restaurants and beaches. what else... try it.

“Wonderful guesthouse with amazing owners!”

Cocooning Hotel made my stay in Koh Samui one to remember! The location is great - towards the end of a quiet little street in fishermans village. You can see the ocean from the upstairs rooms, so it's only a 30 second walk to have your feet in the sand, and it's only a couple minutes to the heart of the village for shopping and dining. The newly remodeled hotel rooms are beautiful - clean, comfortable, bright, and well equipped. The bed was extremely comfortable, the shower hot, and the entire place was spotless. The bathroom fixtures and bedroom acessories are modern. The mini fridge and private balcony with loungers was a great touch, and the new flat screen TV's with DVD players really came in handy when I was stuck in my room due to the storm. The restuarant and bar were just getting up and running when I checked out, so didn't have time to try either, but judging by the food I saw, and the compliments of the other diners, I would say it was good. And the prices were more than reasonable for this part of Koh Samui. But the true stand out here were the owners, Dave and Terese. Despite a mix up in the reservation systems, and them not offically opening for another two weeks, they honored my reservation and made me feel more than welcome. Dave offered me use of his personal movie collection since the cable wasn't working properly, they recommended places to eat, and even invited me to join them for a night out. As a single traveller who's dream of a sunny vacation was almost ruined by non-stop rain, these were the things that made my stay memorable. I wouldn't hesitate to reoommend this hotel to anyone, and look forward to returning again (hopefully in better weather)!

“Best VFM in Fisherman's Village”

we have stayed here twice before (once on my own and once as a couple). previously, the new zealand owner was around and things were friendly and pleasant. this visit, it appears that the hotel is, once more, changing hands and the local couple, who were left in charge, were not unfriendly, but certainly not amiable. we used to eat breakfast there, as the family who used to work there were always friendly. this time we ate out, where there was a better atmosphere. perhaps things will improve once the changeover - if that is what is happening - is completed. we were in the suite, for the first time. overlooking the road, but it has a sea view from the upstairs bedroom window. nice to have two rooms and a comfy settee, but the lighting needs looking at as it was impossible to switch on an upstairs lamp, without first negotiating the steep staircase and crossing the attic, in the pitch black.

i was booking the room for two so the hotel had to arrange amenties for two but they said i came only one . they have to learn about human right . i will not be back again . moreover the owners are not friendly. this is the smile land. the television is not clear and make me unhappy.the rooms are clean. it is bath pool not swiming pool.

The room was ok, except the sight of construction. The problem was the poor staff attitude, the worst I have ever seen. I know the owner was not there and it is low season, maybe it explains everything, but the receptionnist was not even polite, not helpful, just lazy and arrogant.

“Well-situated, cozy 'Base Camp' ”

Upon arrival, we were welcomed by owner Andrew who made sure we were well looked after from the get-go. Our room had all the 'basics' - aircon, comfortable bed, simply but aesthetically appointed. Bathroom needs a make-over but worked. The location is great for the price, one street back from the beach in Fisherman's Village - the center of action just a few minutes stroll away. Staff were extremely helpful. They will order you a taxi - make sure you know the going price - and that the driver knows where he's going. Samui is still being built in the surrounding hills and some places are very difficult to find.... In all, a very pleasant stay - relative to expectations (not luxury, a teeny weenie pool,etc). Would stay here again and spend the saved pennies on experiencing Samui's food, drink and sights.

“Great location but looking tired”

We stayed only one night in this hotel. It is well located - within Fisherman's Vilage, but slightly away from the centre (pier) and therefore the noise. There is a construction site practically next door at the moment. The staff were friendly, but the hotel is looking pretty tired and could do with updating. The reception/restaurant area is cramped and the pool is a plunge pool. We stayed in a suite which had the potential to be great. It had two levels with a huge bedroom upstairs, but much was in need of repair. However - it was pretty cheap and I guess you get what you pay for. We wouldn't be in a hurry to go back there unfortunately.

“Lovely and helpful service”

The room was very clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I had to check in past the check-in time, and the staff were more than happy to make alternative arrangements for me. Level of English is fairly good as well.

The room was ok, but the a/c did not cool at all. There were a lot of ants and other small crawlers. The breakfast is just a joke. Even my little niece would not be full. The staff called us a cap and we paid more than 200B more than asking a driver yourself whithout trading. No pool, no beach access. You can use another hotel, but you have to purchase food and drinks. That hotel is a higher class one and you do not feel welcomed by everyone.
