The service was not that much smooth and convenient as per money they are taking.
Room was never cleaned while we were there, water was brown, manager was unhelpful and we got moved to a different hotel for the first night because they didnt have a room for us after we had booked and reserved online. No compensation at all for the inconvenience, didn't say sorry. Disappointing for our to end the last couple days of our trip with that experience.
The Happy Home Hotel (HHH) hosted me my last three nights in Nepal. I booked "last minute" after a quick review of my options on Agoda and was surprised at what a nice place I could get for such an affordable price - with a great breakfast included! ((on an beautiful GardenTop )) HHH put me in a room designed for 3 singles my first night so it was kind of like Goldilocks... I tested each bed and picked the center one - all of them were adorned equally well - sweet mattresses, sheets clean and white and plenty of soft pillows. The room could have slept 6 cuddlers easily, the beds were big enough. I enjoyed a "deluxe single" room for the rest of my stay. Both rooms had clean bathrooms with hot water showers. I think the single room's bed would qualify as a "king" and I slept royally there. The location was ideal! A short walk to Kathmandu's centrally-located "Palace" or Durbar Square, a "must-see" World Heritage Site, in the heart of Thamel. TV/Heater-AC/Phone/Bottled Water
Location and cost were good but staff were not friendly, overquoted taxis and the tour desk guy overquoted for our bus ticket and got us the wrong seats even though we talked it through with him. Room was basic and a bit damp/mouldy. Rooftop was nice for breakfast and the chef was friendly.
Drinking water located at reception area. I got stomach upset after drinking their “hot water”. I guess it was not boiling water. Have to request them to turn on hot water for shower. They just gave you an hour unless you asked them to extend. Phone in the room is not working, so we’ve to go to reception to tell them. Location is good. Many shops around there.
Nice location, nice hotel amenities, told construction wouldn’t disturb us... instead it went on from 11pm until 5am.
clean and good location. Comfortable for everybody.
Excellent value for money. Staff are all lovely and couldn't be more helpful and accommodating. Convenient location and lovely rooftop area. Very pleased with this choice.
I enjoyed my stay here. The breakfast was standard included breakfast fare, but tasty. The staff was very helpful in booking the rest of my journey and all were very friendly. The hot water worked great (needed some time to warm up) and the heat worked well also (welcome in KTM in December)-also, solid wifi which I came to really appreciate as I travelled through Nepal. The place was definitely clean but the building is old and shows it- didn't bother me though, especially not for the price!
The standard room is pretty small so I recommend you take a Deluxe. The rooms are clean and correct. I just found the mattress a bit hard myself but already told to staff hotel so they could improve. Breakfast at the rooftop terrace is very good and staff was nice and helpful. Thank you!
I really did a great choice when I booked to Hotel Happy Home. All the staffs are friendly and accommodating and experienced the best time in Kathmandu. Special thanks to the Hotel Managers, Narayan and Sandeep, especially Narayan who went extra mile to be my tour guide in all the beautiful places in Kathmandu and outside Kathmandu, also for keeping me company during my shopping spree in the busy streets of Thamel. Will definitely book again to this hotel and next time will bring friends and family. Next time I will do trekking and will take Narayan as my trekking guide. Good job guys! Se you soon! 👍🏻
This was my fourth time staying at hotel happy home. I recommend it if you book one of their larger rooms. This was my first time in their cheap room, and it didn’t quite match my previous experiences. But I would still stay there again.
Hotel located at thamel shopping area, Staff was very friendly & their service was excellent. Hotel Manager was so kindful and he helped us for local shopping, His customer service was great. Garden terrace was amazing to click pics and dine in. we stayed at last floor , Room interiors look little dull and it is satisfactory only need some improvement including toiletries facilities. Little old building and hotel located in a complex , Over all budget friendly hotel nice place to stay.
this hôtel is very good located in Thamel. the staff is Always concerned by your wellness. The rooms are clean with private bathroom and AC. The restaurant at rooftop is perfect to enjoy your breakfast every morning.
The manager of the hotel (Varan?) recommended that we hire a private minibus to get to Jagat during the busy festival period instead of the public bus. We bought a ticket off him and he said that we could take one vehicle all the way. On the ticket he wrote 'Besi Sahar' and when I asked if it should instead say Jagat, he said that Besi Sahar was the region and therefore it was ok. However, the vehicle was not suitable to continue beyond Besi Sahar because of the bad road and we had to pay extra to change vehicles. There was then a disagreement with the hotel owner about the amount that should be refunded for the Jagat section. Given that he also works as a guide, he would have known that the vehicle was not suitable and therefore I believe that the mistake was deliberate and we were conned out of some money. With the benefit of hindsight, it's obvious now that the wrong destination on the ticket was also part of the scam.
Hotel is little bit old and looking dark and their toilet facilities aren't upmost standard. But their staffs behaved was good especially Mr. Sandeep who is very much attentive. This Hotel didn't provide any buffet breakfast but their room rates are reasonable.
Hotel is clean , breakfast was good and various food you can choose , fast delivery Staff are excellent in term of information eg tours transport etc I certainly recommend to anyone who would like to stay here great Hotel regards I Bachsinar Australian
I took standard twin room. It looked a little old but no surprise for this price. Cleanliness was not bad among this budget hotel. But I got the two big problems. The first one was no hot shower available in my room. It was hard to take a cold shower at this season in Nepal. Another problem happened in the morning, at around past seven. I hard big sound kind of hit on the wall of my room. I got out of my room and saw a worker try to repair the floor with a hammer. I didn't make a complaint about that but he kept doing this for almost 30 munites after I opened the door. But I couldn't believe they do this in such early morning hour just in front of the guest room! Terrible! They could do this in hours like after 10 o'clock, the time most of the guests get out of the hotel. I think I won't use again.
Good value in the area, no real complaints and not amazing.
The deluxe room was very spacious and worth every rupee spent. Although there was construction happening at the early hours-the staff made sure we felt comfortable. They also allowed us to leave a little later which helped because it gave us enough time to enjoy Thamel and have lunch.
very good
I've decided to make it my home in Kathmandu. I travel there frequently, and it is affordable, friendly, and well located.
Breakfast at the terrace was great. Staff are really nice. Room 203 at where we stayed is spacious but the door doesn't close properly.
It was a very good place to stay in Kathmandu. It is in center of Thamel and also provided very friendly and helpful staffs. Nice free rooftop breakfast was great. I would definately recommend.
Very happy with the stay. Staff is very accommodating and friendly. Two people stood out: Krishna, the owner, really made us feel at home, and Dharma Lamichhane, a travel agent associated with the hotel. We had a big problem when a landslide cut off the road between Chitwan and Kathmandu, screwing our entire two week's vacation schedule. Dharma helped us re-book all our hotels, arrange all our bus tickets, and basically saved out vacation for us without charging us anything. Very happy with Hotel Happy Home, would definitely recommend!
This was my second time of using this hotel. It was just as good as the first. Great place to stay.
Location
Very good location in the heart of Thamel, friendly staff, reasonable price. Would return in my next trip!
An excellent central location that provides big clean rooms with free cooked rooftop breakfast. Staff are very friendly, happy and keen to please. Excellent value for money and a place that I would thoroughly recommend.
Would use again
Good location. Very friendly and helpful staff. Very pleasant stay.
We had a nice stay at this hotel. The only problem which we have faced is no hot water during daytime only in the morning for 3 hours and in the evening for 3 hours. And water was yellow. Breakfast was amazing. Thank you
Hotel Happy Home was worth the price we paid. The room we had was big, clean and well lit. You get the usual street noise at night and there is a new hotel being built across the road but this is Thamel and unless you're paying top $$ that's what you get 😜 Overall we were happy and the staff were friendly. The breakfast was good with a nice roof top area to enjoy.
Goooooooooooooooooooooood
Large clean room, friendly staff, good environment
Overall good. Old Building.
Overall good. Old Building.
I booked this hotel after reading the reviews but was very disappointed. I am not a fussy person but this place certainly is not a 3 star hotel but rather a backpacker accommodation. Things started to go wrong when the hotel did not want to provide a pick up service from Kathmandu bus station after arriving from Pokhara. ( after asking them for a pick up which most hotels in Nepal are happy to do they said just get a taxi) Anyway besides this I remained positive until I got to the actual hotel. The room which I was offered was next to a construction site so asked to move. They were not too happy at this but offered me another room in a quieter part of the building. However once settled into the room there was no hot water, internet connection was very, very weak. I could handle this however the worst was yet to come. After getting into bed I felt like I was being bitten all over. So I had to sleep with long trousers on and long sleeve shirt on top of the bed cover. I suspected bed bugs and in the morning this was confirmed by small bites on my skin. In addition I asked for them to clean my room the next day as I went out the whole day and left the key in reception . However unfortunately when I got back the room had not been cleaned. Moreover on checkout trying to remain positive I thanked the manger at reception and to my surprise he just ignored me and said nothing. Overall I stayed in various hotels during my say in Nepal which were very good I thought and genuine. However this place was a big disappointment. For the price you pay there are far better types of accommodation in Thamel.
A great home away from home. The owner was very accomodating and the room was large and clean. The rooftop was a nice place to relax and the free tea was a great bonus. We would stay here again. Highly recommend
This Hotel lives up to it's name. They went over and above for us, and treated us like family and really made our stay feel very cozy. I can't recommend this place highly enough. My job requires me to travel a lot and I don't know when the last time I was this impressed with a hotel. Thank You Hotel Happy Home, for making our time in Kathmandu perfect.
Would definitely recommend staying at Happy Home
From the moment I reserved this hotel, Mr. Krishna, who is the manager of this hotel took care of everything for us whether it's a bus ticket to Pokhara or tickets for mountain flight! I requested him to give us a room on the first or second floor and he assured me that he will keep a room wherever we feel comfortable. Dharma ji also helped us a lot with all our sightseeing plans and mountain flight as well. All the staffs were really helpful, the rooms were clean and they always made sure we were comfortable even when the hotel was full of people. I will definitely stay there again!
Getting more than what you pay. With the amount we pay, we get an excellent service from the super friendly staff and location is super. We have late check out until 3pm without any extra charge. The water supply in bath room a bit yellowish, hope water filter will be install in future to solve this issue.
A comfortable and welcoming hotel, with staff that willingly takes care of your every need. This is THE place to stay in Thamel.
Only downfall is the bed which was like a hard piece of wood and the Luke warm showers
As first time traveller to Kathmandu, the Hotel Staff really made our stay comfortable. They are all Hospitable and very Helpfull. They have a nice place to have a perfect breakfast at the rooftop and the place is very conveniently located. We will definitely recommend the place to our friends!
Our stay was realy decent. The staff is really great and helpful. Hot water comes in nepali style. Breakfast is really great and you get extra food when ask. When having breakfast the travel manager wont let you even finish your meal before offering million different things. We left our stuff to the luggage room and returned after the trek and everything was ok!
I chose this hotel based the many good reviews it had and I must say they live up to their reputation. It is a nice clean hotel in the middle of Thamel. The staff is really helpfull and friendly and try to make your stay and the rest of your trip as pleasant as possible. Normally with budget hotels in would always find some broken stuff or other things that would need attention but here everything looks nice and everything works..the only thing that doesn't is that 12 hours per day the power would be off but even for that they have a good working generator so that you always have light and atleast one working power socket in the room. And the shower I found to be also always to have hot water. I also appreciated the ability in which they are able to help with your travel plans being it trekking, sightseeing or just dealing withe going from one place to another. What I especially like about the place was the rooftop breakfasts were you would get a good breakfast and some good conversations with other guests that are staying at the hotel. When I come back to Kathmandu I will definitely stay here again and I would advise everybody to try this hotel aswel.
“Not expect that much”
Not that much expected from the hotel.
