“Good one near Thandwe airport area”

Perfectly! Big room and nice everything in room. Breakfast need improve,less food Will coming back when in Thandwe next time.

“Unfriendly operation manager”

Advised to go with the seaview room instead of the normal room because there's alot of difference between the view, as well as the cleanliness of the room. we booked 2 night for different room and the normal room gave us a nightmare. Humongous tod found outside our toilet door and there's so many mosquito inside the room. The seaview one was really awesome though. And hotel offer happy hour for drinks every day! Operation manager was really awful not helpful at all but the rest of the staff was very friendly throughout.

“Great hotel with friendly staff but not the operation manager”

We stayed there for 2 nights, booked the first night with the seaview room and the 2nd night delux room. Seaview room is awesome, with huge toilet and clean with perfect seaview, exactly what was on the photos posted. However, 2nd night was horrible. There's many mosquito in the room and my friend had more than 10 bites throughout the night. During the night, I also saw a humongous black tod outside our bathroom door which totally freak me out. We didn't thought that it would be such a big difference between seaview and normal room but it was a bad experience on the 2nd night. Do not do the boat tour with the hotel, they charge higher pricing as compared to outside. The operating manager is not helpful and unfriendly she told us that even if it's raining we could still do the snokling but end up that's not the case and we were still forced to pay the full payment for the boat tour. It's supposed to be a 4hrs trip but we only had 2hrs. Their breakfast is rlly awesome thou.

Very nice hotel next to Thandwe hotel. We spent three days there and had a great time! The staff and managers are very friendly and helpful, always trying to satisfy your needs. The only weak point is that it is far from other restaurants on the beach. I highly recommend this hotel for families, couples and individuals.

Beautiful setting with a lovely pool and beach access. Friendly staff in the restaurant. I just felt my room was not clean. This was my final destination in Myanmar and having paid more for this accommodation the least I expected was for the room to be clean. There were ants, and cockroaches in the bedroom. The sheets had stains and the towels were old and grubby.

My friend and I spent 10 days in Myanmar and wanted to end the trip on a relaxing note and ended up doing 2 nights/3 days at the Merciel Resort. Its a beautiful spot right on the water and so close to the airport and the shuttle service was included with our stay. The food was delicious and the staff went out of their way to help us (especially when the bugs were biting one night at dinner, a woman from the front desk brought us her personal bug spray). We took full advantage of their complimentary bikes and ended up doing a great morning ride down through the region. Everything about the place is beautiful, can't recommend it enough!

A large group of 20-year-olds taking a break from Semester at Sea showed up the 2nd day of our stay and had a somewhat disruptive effect on what was otherwise a delightfully tranquil resort. They were cramming 6-8 people into each room and partied loudly. I wish the Merciel staff had taken a firmer stand with that group; they had already been kicked out of the Hilton next door. Other than that, it was a wonderful place and I think the odds of another "Spring Breakers" group showing up is very slim.

“Overall good, a bit removed from main section of beach though ”

Rooms are quite nice and large. Nice seating area outside. Beautiful location, nice swimming pool. The bar drinks and food are a bit expensive for those on a budget, and the location is pretty far away from the main stretch of beach with other hotels and restaurants. If you're a couple and just looking for a nice quiet place, it would deliver. My friend and I ended up moving to the other beach eventually, because it is less rocky and in some cases more affordable.

“Airport Hotel”

We absolute loved this hotel, very close to the airport however we were not annoyed by the noise of the airplanes as there were only few flights to Thandwe Airport per day. The hotel is very large with a private beach and lovely swimming pool (especially sunset time). There is a spa facility which is a plus. Breakfast is to die for. There are so many choices whether Asian or European meals offered. The hotel offered free wifi and bicycle but the wifi is not quite stable as it should be however who would want to spend online if you could enjoy so much everything else. Local street market is not far and there are plenty of restaurants along the street. We went to Sea Queen Seafood restaurant and absolutely enjoyed their lobster there. You may need to book it first as it was easily fully booked by walk-in customers nearby.

This hotel is very nice and very clean with beautiful view to the garden an the sea. All staff and managers are very very helpful and nice and speaks good English. Hotel is located on a good place, not far from airport, but it´s ok and not noisy from airplanes, and you can also take a bicycle and ride a bike around Ngapali beaches and fisherman´s village. Or if you donť want or can´t ride a bike you can take the taxi tuk tuk around 10000kyats to go to next beach and back (but in the evening I recomend you to take a good clothes like longsleeve shirt or jacket and trousers - very strong cold wind inside the tuk tuk). There are the rocks in front of hotel, but if you go a little bit to the right side of the beach, there you can go to the sea with no problems. All food is delicious and taste very good. Maybe on the breakfast there it could be wide choice, it´s everyday almost same.

“Highly recommended place to stay”

The hotel is literally 500m from Thandwe Airport on the north part of Ngapali Beach (actually its not called Ngapali Beach but Thandwe) - we were not disturbed by any noise. There are less hotels at this part of the beach as it is more rocky, however at Merciel they have a private beach for its guests, along with sun beds, swimming pool and a pool bar! And it's the best place to watch the sunset. We had a double bed room without sea view, which was great, exactly as shown in the pictures. The staff are very polite and speaks ok English. The breakfast is amazing, with a mix of western (eggs, salad, musli, croissants, pancakes etc) and Myanmar dishes (noodles, soup, fried rice, fresh fruit etc). Also the dinners are very good, though a bit more expensive than if you eat at local restaurants. You can borrow bikes, hire a rickshaw or taxi to go around the beach and surrounding villages. I would highly recommend this place.

It is a beautiful hotel and I like it so much when I first saw of my room. There is a “private”small beach near the hotel. The French manager and staff are very helpful, try to do what you want to. Food are amazing! But it is a bit far for the local restaurant.

“A peaceful hotel in a beautiful and serene setting”

We stayed at the hotel for a week, and after the dust and bustle of our previous two months travelling around SEAsia, this was fabulous. All of the staff were kind, and went out of their way to ensure we had the best possible time while staying with them. The hotel is just down the road from the airport, but there was no plane noise heard at the hotel complex. There is a small secluded beach at the side of the hotel, leading to very safe sea waters, which we really liked. The rooms were spotless, light and airy, with a good size balcony and a sea view. Breakfast choices were good, freshly cooked on order during the week and buffet at the weekend. The restaurant was also good, and there are local family restaurants serving mainly seafood and Asian food a short bike ride away. (Bikes are available for guests to use on demand.) Overall, we had a very enjoyable stay, and would love to return both the the Merciel ( and Ngapali) in the near future.

“Mercial - probably a little underated”

In an area of higher end hotels this one is a short distance from the airport. With a great pool and reasonable price tag this is a perfect choice if visiting the area. Rooms are very large and well designed. The hotel manager was very professional and took the time to come and speak with us and assist us with anything we needed. Great place to relax.

“Amazing ”

When I booked this hotel it all looked nice and when we got here it exceeded our expectation to the point we nearly changed our flights to stay another night or two. The facilities were great and had everything we needed but the only thing I wished they had was a spa so I could have had a massage. They did however offer spa service through the Hilton resort (next door). The staff are all lovely and spoke pretty good english and were always very helpful and catered to all our needs quickly. The rooms were very clean and the beds were very very very comfy but the only thing is that there were no movie channels available. Over all it was an amazing stay and we wish we could've stayed longer and would happily go back there.

“Good hotel - Excellent Manager - superb staff ”

Hotel is located just south of airport and whilst it is a 30 minute cycle on complimentary bikes to the main beach there is a small sandy beach beside hotel. The staff & French manager in particular are very helpful & friendly and will do all they can to make your stay as pleasant as possible. The rooms are huge, the hotels gardens are superbly maintained making it a perfect location to sit on your balcony at the end of the day. Breakfast buffet food was excellent. Coffee supplier needs to be sacked as it is awful. There are local restaurants a 5/10 minute cycle away or the ever present tuk tuk's outside hotel will take you there and back. When you consider the cost of the tuk tuk's against considerable extra cost to stay at most other hotels the hotel will still work out much cheaper. You are also very close (30 minute cycle) to the most beautiful empty beach you will encounter in SE Asia !!

“Good hotel except....”

This hotel is a 4 star hotel due to nice facilities provided except one big thing is missing - a sandy Beach!!! I thought there is a beach in front of my sea-view room. I was completely wrong. There isn't a proper sandy beach where you can just go down and swim. You need to travel like 15km further up to reach to the beach area where you can enjoy swimming and walking along the sandy beach. The hotel location is just a stone throw away from the airport. We boarded the airport pick-up shuttle provided by the hotel, and then we thought we were going to sit back, relax and enjoy viewing the scenery along the way to the hotel. We were wrong again. Ironically, the hotel is like 80 feet away from the airport, and with just a few spin of wheels, the car reached the hotel. So, again we didn't get to enjoy sightseeing which we expected. Goods: Free unlimited bottled waters, swimming pool, free bicycle Bads: Very few selection at breakfast (all are fixed and the same everyday), Few cockroaches and one big spider in the room, No beach, No water sports activities, No restaurant or shop nearby (be prepared to pay a lot to travel to beach and shop areas if you are taking a taxi. Taxi drivers are charging more than international rates.)

“Perfect with small children”

We went with my parents and my two young children and found this place to be absolutely ideal. It is very close the airport so there is no time in taxis. The beach is perfect for young children when the tide is out because it is huge, flat and full of shells and rock pools. The staff are a delight and the restaurant is good enough (and affordable enough) to ensure we were very happy to stay and eat there every day. I couldn't have asked for better.

“Awesome find”

Our stay was a delight. Loved this hotel...beach right on the doorstep. Beachfront room with a view, sun loungers in front of our room to watch the sunset. Only negative is that it is a little far out from the local village but we were able to take advantage of the free bikes from reception. Loved our stay! Lots of good memories thank you !

“There would be so much potential, BUT...”

It is a very beautiful hotel with so much potential to be a 4-5 star hotel but they somehow miss upholding the standard.. The hotel is not even a year old and still the furniture in the rooms looks really old and battered. That is such a shame, we were really looking foward having a nice time in this hotel but the cleaning was really disappointing, even after we said that the bathroom was covered in mold, and the floor was not cleaned wet once there wasnt so much improvement. They removed the mold but still the bathroom was smelly.. This hotel could be so much more... They should also try to clean up the swimming pool... And the breakfast in the morning was super cold.. I hope they realize how much potential this hotel has and try tp improve their mistakes.. Otherwise people wont visit anymore...

“Quiet end of the beach”

Our stay at the Merciel was excellent but it is not in the main area of Sandoway beach - we prefer the quiet end so quite liked it and don't mind a bit of a walk to the swimming beach, but if you want to roll out of the bed and into the water it's in the infinity pool only! Having said that, they have amazing sunsets (and the GM told me he is building a Tiki Bar), the F&B is good, and the rooms are large. The swimming beach (about 100 meters to walk) is really sandy and lovely (and two sand bars perfect for kids at low tide). But if you are looking for the beach-sport action you have to go along by taxi, or bike, or moto-cy down a few km's to the main beach of Sandoway. But, we will stay here again as the value for money is very good.

Our stay was fantastic. From the moment they picked us up at the airport the service began. Our room was awesome, the hotel staff was friendly and attentive, the food was devine and made to requests. We love this hotel and recommend it highly. It is a jewel in paradise.

Muy mala ubicación, primer día 7 cucarachas en la habitación, no funciona el spa, averiada piscina dos días, nos dicen que han adelantado el vuelo y no es cierto, playa del hotel llena de basura... No vuelvo ni aunque fuera gratis, hay muchos resorts cerca que dan mejor servicio...por qué será?. Una lástima haberme alojado aquí.

Je vous déconseille fortement de séjourner dans cet hotel, le prix est très élevé au vu des prestations, l etablissement est très mal entretenu et sale, j ai trouve un cafard dans ma salle de bain. Pour profiter de cet endroit paradisiaque, b allez pas dans cet hôtel

Ce très bel établissement, permet de se reposer et des magnifiques plages. Situé à 1 min de l'aeroport permet de ne pas perdre de temps dans les transports et les avions ne s'entendent pas. Le personnel est au petit soin pour les clients. Petit déjeuner très copieux, carte variée au restaruant et les cokctails sont très bons. Je vous recommande d'y passer.

Cet hotel récent (1 an) estdéjà en pleine décrépitude, trés prés de l'aéroport (peu d'avions encore) il n'est pas sur la belle plage qui commence à 8 km au sud.. Il est trés isolé car il n'y a aucune vie à coté. S'il dispose d'une petite plage, elle est impropre à la baignade car il y a trop de rocher, face à l'hotel c'est une digue. Il reste la piscine face à la mer mais elle était verte et pleine d'algue (en europe elle serait fermée pour raison sanitaire et ce n'était pas nouveau! donc une seule solution prendre un vélo et aller se baigner sur la belle plage...24 km AR quand meme...et 10 vélos pour 48 chambres : il faut se lever tot! Le PDJ est erratique sur 5 jours 2 fois du bacon et un peu de fromage rupture de stock !! il est prévu ouvert à 7 H mais ça peut etre 7H30 alors vous attendez !les chambres sont spacieuses mais mal entretenues fortes odeurs d'égouts dans la salle de bain et les sols ne sont jamais lessivés nulle part ni petite terrasse, ni chambre ni sdb, la baignoire est bordée de moisissures importantes..Des carreaux sont cassés deci delà y compris terrasse piscine...Comme vous pouvez difficilement aller manger ailleurs vous mangez là ! il faut ˆetre patient, c'est cher et 1 plat sur 2 manque à le carte...Ce n'est pas toujours bon...Une soupe poulet, citronelle, coriandre et lait de coco arrive avec 2 bouts de tomates, pas de citronelle et pas de coriandre...De l'eau en fait ! Nous avons vu le directeur 1 fois à cause de la piscine sinon introuvable et invisible, à peine aimable...le personnel est charmant mais pas managé du tout et certainement peu formé...Bref trés mauvais rapport qualité prix essayez d'aller ailleurs et surtout sur la plage sud.Wifi capricieux. Bref un hotel bord de mer où on ne peut se baigner que dans sa baignoire et pas dans les meilleures conditions, mal entretenu, peu de jardin, à part le coucher de soleil on ne voit pas beaucoup d'avantages à résider ici. Anglais parlé à l'accueil mais mal au restaurant.....

Die Zimmer/Bungalows sind sehr schön aber teilweise besteht renovierungsbedarf, dem nach unseren Eindruck nicht nachgegangen wird. Es liegt am wenig erschlossenen Nordstrand mit weniger Restaurantauswahl. Da der Strand an diesem Abschnitt sehr steinig ist, ist Baden nur mit Schuhen oder mit grosser Vorsicht möglich. Hotels am Südstrand bieten hier bessere Bade- und Restaurantfreuden

Abgewohntes Resort mit vielen Baumängeln...Algen im Pool...Zimmer sehr muffig und schmuddelig...starker Fäkaliengeruch...Bis auf schönen Meerblick, Ruhe und sehr freundliches und hilfsbereites Personal und die leckeren Gute Nacht Kekse einfach nur schlecht und viel zu teuer für das Gebotene...

Beim Servier-Personal außerordentlich geringe Englischkenntnisse, sodass man die, Wiederholung der georderten Speisen des Kellners kaum versht. Wünsche im Restaurant können kaum verstanden werden. Es werden auch des öfteren falsche Speisen an den Tisch gebracht. Besser ist die Situation an der Reception.

Ich hatte eine komplett andere Vorstellung von diesem Hotel, die Lage ist für Beach Liebhaber nicht tauglich. Obwohl ich kostenpflichtig stornieren musste, habe ich nicht eingecheckt. Die neue Homepage verschafft einem einen wesentlich besseren Eindruck von der Realität, hier wurde gehandelt.

Sehr angenehm von Anfang an. Das Zimmer war toll, das Essen lecker, das Personal sehr hilfsbereit in allen Belangen (wir mussten Flüge buchen und einiges ausdrucken)
