it was a very good value for money, just a stroll from downtown. the manager woman was very good, she helped me to book my plane ticket and she even made me save 20$. i would really recommend this place and its staff and manager!
It's an old hotel, with no hot water and poor wifi not so clean, but at the same time it is not a bad place. I am not sure that owners understand the idea of hotel. Right now it's just a place to sleep, with a great and really helpful (even in Myanmar) stuff, nice breakfast. The problem that there is no better place for this price and even more expensive hotels are not better.
the meal, lunch or dinner is delicious, it is not necessary to looking for a nother restaurant, best food in town!
Super nice Guesthouse. Defenitely would go again. Very friednly and helpfull staff.
very nice place, staff is great, and even though they dont all speak English, they always do their best and manage to assist you. very friendly, great food, and cheap laundry service
I slept in a dorm very well kept. Nice garden. Nice food. Organises trip to Chin villages. Only bad point is that it is a little bit out of the center so you will probably eat in the hotel (which has.delicious food).
The Prince is currently renovating and doing a fabulous job. It is easy to see the owners vision for the rooms and the gardens. He has an eye for the style of the people who inhabit that region. The staff is very friendly and attentive, the owner is a gem. If you get the opportunity to chat him, do so, you will learn a lot about the region and Myanmar. The breakfast was good and the pancakes are divine. Dinner is also available. Mrauk U is still a bit of a frontier, so finding a friendly, clean hotel at a reasonable price was a bonus. We highly recommend The Prince.
Get a free upgrade to a big, new room. Good breakfast, egg, toast or pancackes, bananas..... The Dinner was also great! The staff is very frendly and help you with everything (bus tickets, sim card) You can rent bicycle for 2000 per day. Just 10min to walk is a really nice sunset hill.
pros: cheapest hotel in Mrauk U (using online platforms), booked an 8bed dorm but they put me on a 2bed dorm, huge room and T&B plus with a veranda/balcony, rented a bike for more than 6hrs but they charged me for only half a day, free bottled water upon check-in, plenty of breakfast (2 crepes or pancakes in their terms,1 toast, 1 banana and Burmese coffee) in their garden, a bed net is provided against mosquitoes which is very rampant in Mrauk U cons: fixtures need some updating, location is just by the hi-way so you could here the buses etc passing by (though this doesn't hinder me from having a good sleep)
This hotel seems to be a family home with rooms available. The rooms have been fixed up with bit and pieces.. windows don't shut.. doors don't shut... toilet seat was not fixed to the toilet.. there was no cistern lid..instead a piece of painted wood cut out to sit on the top.. barely furnished.. we lasted an hour forfeited our money and moved on to another hotel Mark U palace resort( not recommended either). However it was clean and staff were awesome but not enough to make us stay. Don't believe the picture or the reviews about it being very good.. WT?? I didn't go there with high expectations of anything too special but I do have standards.
Some rooms can be a little old and you only have hot water from 6p.m to 8p.m but the staff is really helpful and their english is good. The breakfast is awesome , it's the better one I had in 3 weeks in Myammar. Enjoy the garden in the evening , it's more quiet than the guest hiuse in the center ;)
Basic Hotel, rooms were smelling musty, breakfast was good.
Absolutely fantastic place to visit. Each and everyone made this a memorable visit with caretaking and personal interest ind the guests. Also the food was the real stuff, and by far the best during my visit to Myanmar. Do not miss out if you visit Mrauk-U. They will take such good care of you. Big hugs to them all.
Stayed here 4 nights. Rustic, with large rooms and convenient location. Great meals cooked to order. Quiet location with easy walking distance to many sights. Best sunrise view in Mrauk U just 15-20min walk away. Excellent, friendly and helpful staff. Highly recommend!
not the best but not the worst
Lovely place with a nice garden. Full of insects but the beds had mosquito nets. Wi-fi almost never worked and sometimes there was no hot water. The owner is an excellent cook (and she speaks English) so you should order a meal there. Very friendly staff. A bit expensive for what it offers
Ask to have your dinner here. Best food! Staff was helpful and kind. They do a great job. Prince is beautiful as well. The landscaping is nice. On rainy mornings it was really nice to sit on the covered porches outside the rooms. I would definitely recommend!
Family run hotel; recommend!
This family-run hotel provides excellent service and comfort for their guests. I loved the garden dining area. The food was *incredible* (a bit pricey, but well worth it) and the coffee was the best I've tasted in 3 years of living in Myanmar. Be prepared when you order food that it will take about an hour for it be ready as they make everything fresh from scratch. My friend and I were there just after Thingyan and had some trouble securing transportation out of Mrauk Oo, but the staff went above and beyond to get us where we needed to go. The hotel is not located very close to any of the major attractions, but it's easy enough to bike around.
Very nice family taking great care of their guests
The family owners and employees were extremely helpful and attentive. The food was the best I had in Mrauk U. Wifi is spotty and not to be relied upon.
Very good familiar atmosphere , helpfull and nice owners, and food served upon request were delicious, really recomend !
Close to the road into town, so noisy during daytime, and windowns don't close firmly. Very simple quipment in the room (no closet, tiny table) and in the bathroom. Bit out of town, so at dark you better have a torch light with you. Family run, very friendly and helpful staff.
We really enjoyed our stay at Prince Hotel. We enjoyed sitting at the long community table in the courtyard chatting with other travelers and eating good food. The staff was very friendly too. Rooms are equipped with mosquito nets. It can get quite cold at night (travelled in early January), so bring warm clothes!
The only good thing was the breakfast which was ok. The room is old and dirty, the bathroom was not nice and hot water was always a problem. Internet never worked and as the hotel is on the main road noise is a huge issue. Walls were paper thin so you can enjoy listening to your neighbour on the toilet and what happened to the blackout curtains and bathrobes they mention? Our curtains were smaller than the window so privacy is an issue. The staff were friendly and they rent bikes and that's about it for the good points.
The hotel is nicely located in a green garden within walking distance of the town center. Some small stands where you can get snacks and drinks can be found around the corner at the main road. Bikes to explore the surroundings can be rented directly at the hotel. The room was spacious and clean and the beds comfortable. A mosquito net was provided and should be used to avoid bites at night. The rooms located close to the road might be a bit too noisy for some travellers due to loud trucks and honking bikes on the main road starting around 5:30 to 6 o'clock. The bath was very big and clean. Unfortunately hot water was not always available. There might be certain times during the day that should be preferred to take a shower. The staff was very warm and friendly and gave helpful hints to discover the sites. They also gladly arranged taxi pickups or tours. Breakfast was fine and plenty, dinner was really tasty and easy to arrange.
Loved the atmosphere and felt very welcome. Family run - and everyone tries very hard to make your stay the best possible. There are no frills - expect fairly basic, but comfortable and clean rooms. Bicycles and guides for hire, and a wealth of tourist and travel information available about the region - just ask.
We have no hesitation in recommending the Prince Hotel. We thoroughly enjoyed our 4 day stay here - excellent food in a communal dining table in the garden, to the excellent advice, and guides if needed.
The owner can cook delicious meals, giving you good informations about mrauk u, and very helpful when i need some things. The staff are nice, room spacious and the location is good.I'm just stayed for 2 nights here but definitely will come back here if i come to mrauk u again.
I stayed 4 nights at the Prince and would stay again. It is run by a very friendly family and the atmosphere is friendly and relaxed. The food is very much above average especially if you have dinner there. It is very good to be served with fresh vegetables and salads. I will stay there again if I go to Mrauk U.
Overall no problems. Rooms are very well worn, hot water flow was often weak.
OK but too expensive for what was offerd. Breakfast was nice but as usual not traditional. Room OK with moscito net and bathroom burmese style, OK but could be a bit cleaner. However we had lots of moscitos and cockroaches on our first night. Staff is nice but we booked a tour to chin villages and this was not worth the money. Although cheaper than with other companies we recommend to only book the boat and go their on your own. The tour is way to expensive for 3 little villages where you are not really introduced in how they live and the only attractions are the spider women and lots of kids that are used to sweets given to them from tourists. Our guide from the hotel only explained backgrounds more profoundly when we asked him about it we did not feel well accompanied by him.
A little rundown, but they're rebuilding at the moment. Rooms are big and have huge balcony areas. The staff are a lot of fun, as it's a family run business. Having a few beers and roaring at the local football matches on TV was a great time. We all shared travel stories over lunch the day I arrived, and they were prompt and knowledgable with any of my enquiries. Don't expect too much in Mrauk U and you'll be a happy camper.
loved it. friendly and helpful staff, it's a family run business and most of the staff are related. its only 10 minutes by bike (rented at the hotel) in to town, and a 10 min walk to Moe cherry restaurant. dark street so take a torch! $30 bungalows a bit run down but $38 and 50 were nice. The outside dining area is a great place to socialise with a cold beer after a hot day cycling round the temples. would definitely stay again .
Accommodation in Mrauk U is limited and therefore can be seen as expensive however we were not disappointed with our stay at Prince Hotel. It is family run and the staff were absolutely superb; friendly, knowledgeable and very very helpful. If you stay at Prince Hotel you must eat with them in the evening. The food we had during our stay was probably the best and most traditional food we had in all of Burma and the meal itself was a great occasion to speak with all the other guests and the staff. There were even people coming in from the other hotels to eat at Prince hotel. The accommodation does require significant updating but we wouldn't have stayed anywhere else. Thank you to the staff for helping us organising our trip further north. We would have struggled on our own as we were the only westerners up there!
Staff are super friendly. All of the customers are like family when we gather together for breakfast and dinner. To be honest this hotel serves the best food in Mrauk U. Highly recommended. Rooms are basic but good enough.
Just superb, the family who runs the hotel is formidable, they arranged some visit to the chin village and bycicles are available to go around in the whole Mrauk Oo, miss this family and will be my stop if I come back some day, many thanks for all! :)
Rooms looks like from 70s without any maintenance. Basic stuff, badly designed, no cross ventilation, and gets really humid and hot inside. Power goes just for 2hours per day. Unfortunately even basic clean up did not happened during my 4 days. And it is overpriced. But there were positive things too. Friendly and really helpful stuff , no problem to arrange bus to Bagan etc. and Agora worked as is should. No wifi.
Family and staff are super friendly and the K2000 per day bike hire made getting around easy. Although I enjoyed my stay there were many times I had no air conditioning no fan and cold showers. The builders were noisy too. That said the building work should be finished in 3 months and a power line installed too
the first impression of the hostel is a bit run down, rooms are clean but some of the floorboards need replacement. when we flushed our toilet the water in the toilet of the room next door went up and vice versa. the garden of the hostel is quiet nice and gives a lot of shade which you need during the hot days in Mrauk U. the family that runs the hostel is very friendly and attentive and the sons of the owner act as guides in Mrauk U and for trips to Shan Villages or hiking trips in the surrounding area. breakfast (yummy fresh pancakes or mohinga soup) and dinner were amazing. for dinner you simply tell one of the staff during the day what you would like to have and they dish it up at night.
We had a nice stay at Prince. We've been living and traveling in Myanmar for several years, so we have a good idea of what you can expect at hotels in the country. Mrauk-U is pretty far off the beaten path, so our expectations is a little lower level of refinement relative to price than what you'd get in Bangkok, for example. Overall our expectations were met. We spent a little extra on the suite, but really all that meant was more unused space, so wouldn't necessarily recommend this unless you need it. The highlight was the great community atmosphere during dinner, and dinner itself, which was a showcase of Myanmar staples and also local Rakhine specialties. We would definitely go back to stay here again.
We stayed at the Prince Hotel for 3 nights and absolutely loved our stay. The best part is the family who care for you like family. Very open and welcoming, conversations around the communal table were the highlight our our stay in Mrauk-U. Use the map they provide, Rent bicycles, and off you go for easy cycling to the main areas. We really loved the family and our stay. We miss them already!
If you are seeking a plush hotel with satellite tv and super fast WiFi, then the Prince Hotel is not for you. If you want to spend time alone in your room, then the Prince Hotel is not for you. On the other hand, if you want to meet one of the nicest and most welcoming hotel staffs you could possibly meet, if you want to eat some incredible food at a very reasonable price from Western perspectives, and if you want to meet some awesome fellow travelers, then the Prince might be the place for you. It felt more like I was a member of their family and not merely another customer. This was my first time in Mrauk U and I certainly hope it will not be my last and when I do return to this incredible city, I will stay at the Prince.
Although situated at one of the main streets in Mrauk U, this hotel is quite cozy. About 10 bungalows in a very green garden with palm trees and a great variety of local plants. Breakfast and diner is served at one big table, making this a nice place to meet fellow adventurous travelers. The staff is very friendly and helps you out with bike rental, local maps etc. The rooms are of good size, with comfortable single or double beds, mosquito nets and an okay bathroom. A bit noisy from the ceiling (bathroom noise from the neighbours can be a bit too much for westeners). But hey, it makes you think about why western people hang on so much to their privacy, while Asian families all live together under one roof, or even sleep together with a whole bunch on one floor. Hot showers only available in the afternoon, so you can wash of the dust of visiting the temples. Why only afternoon? Because it takes a while to heat up the water reservoir with a good old burning fire. Electricity 24/7 but do bring a torch to bridge the minutes until the generator starts up. Mrauk u is still very quiet, unspoiled and gives you the thrill of adventure. I hope and wish that development won’t go too fast.
Our room was basic, very simple, but clean. The hotel is quiet generally, we slept well comfortable bed. The staff create a friendly buzz, and managed to help sort all trips we wanted to do, and even sorted a mess we had with a dodgy boat tout in Sittway. It's very chilled, and seems to have one of the nicest vibes for hotels in Mrauk U.The dinners are nice, just remember to let them know you want to eat in advance.
I couldn't fault the service from Prince Hotel Mrauk U, they arranged all my transportation (including bicycle) and made sure my time in Mrauk U went smoothly. My room was rustic style but very comfortable (I actually upgraded to superior) and they kept bringing yummy pancakes for breakfast each morning until I asked them to stop. Currently the central authorities are making it difficult to travel to Mrauk U (though Sittwe is OK- bizarre) I hope this gets resolved soon, it's a great place to visit
“Good cost value at this present moment.”
Mrauk U is in the middle of developing in tourism. If you compare this hotel to others in Myanmar's standard based on price, considering expensive w what they offer. But i saw other hotels in MU are all over priced. Their cottages are cute but aged, but the property is nicely tuckled inside lush tropical plants and trees. Not sure how rooms in "newer" building might look inside... could be better? Their breakfast is same every day during my three mornings, crepe and omlet and toast and banana. As i love hot shower, the limited time of hot water availability(5-8 in both AM PM) is my only complain there. The street in the front of the hotel is dusty due to the construction going on at the entrance of the town. It is walking disrance to the center but their on site bicycle rental comes in handy. I personally recommend the restaurant in the hotel right next to Prince, it is the bedt among all other places where i had dinner. Good price and delicious, most of all, i like the attitudes of the female employees with Myanmar smile in the restaurant. You might find no one there eating but highly recommended. If you stay at Prince, check to see if the owner is there. He travels often so i missed the timing to meet him but he seems very knowlegable and could share many info of MU with you.
