The AC wasn’t working and the rooms are very noisy you can hear everything from the outside!
We stayed at the Palatine with a Gate 1 group and extended a few extra days. The hotel is in the perfect location for exploring Roma. Walked everywhere. Located close to wonderful range of restaurants and tavernas. Stayed in a Classic double 1st floor overlooking Cavour. Room was warm as all hotels in Italy are. Opened windows for fresh air. Noisy but we are city people so it did not bother us. Staff was helpful arranging transport to FCO for an early flight. They even provided a take away breakfast bag. Water pressure in shower was great for soothing sore muscles after full days of exploring the city.
We had small and uncomfortable bathroom but otherwise it was perfect.
Close to metro, close to colloseum, comfortable beds. A little bit loud, noises from outside.
Great hotel close to the colosseum and walking distance to many great restaurants. Lovely staff and a lot of breakfast options.
I stayed with my sister, the staff were very nice. Breakfast was great , we will definitely come back.
The room was so dark and hot. They didn’t turn on the air con for guests. Everything had to be paid, there wasn’t even a free water bottle in the room. The shower faucet wasn’t constantly give off hot water, it sometimes cold and sometimes hot. I didn’t like it at all. Also, the breakfast was worst. The staff was very picky and too rush in collecting plates and glasses even when you were not done yet. When you get up, they immediately came to you. You couldn’t even walk around freely without anyone watching at you. They stared at your every move. So uncomfortable! I wouldn’t recommend this hotel at all and wouldn’t visit again.
Dear Guest Thank you for sharing your impression about your recent stay with us. Anyway it seems that you did not find even a positive aspect in the whole experience. The AC is not on because the temperature at this time of the year is pretty cool, reaching 8 degrees at night. The heating is at disposal in the Hotel, but if you prefer to not have the warm air you can switch it off directly from the room. As in most of the Hotel in the world, we do not have free bottles of water in the room, but we offer the kettle service with tea/coffee facilities for example. We are sorry if our breakfast did not meet you expectation, even if it Is full of choice and sorry also if you felt that our Staff stared at you at any time, they were just doing their job and there was not intention to bother you..... No pool, No gym, No Tea/Coffee, No Iron, No free bottled water. Bear minimum everything. Staff were nice, breakfast was nothing special, room was clean. Close to restaurants (But which are not). I will not stay here again.

We regret that you didn't notice prior to your booking that our hotel doesn't offer those facilities like pool or gym. We regret that breakfast was not in line with your expectation, because is one of the main strong points of the Hotel. You can try all homemade Italian pastries of high quality, yogurt, fruits, vegetables, meat, bread, cheese, scramble and boiled eggs. Regarding the iron, for security reason we avoid to put it inside the rooms, but our laundry service is available from Monday to Friday 7.30-15.00 and on Saturday from 7.30 o 12.00, even if you need only the ironing service. Our Hotel offers different tipology of rooms, classic, superior, prestige and suite, and the tea/coffee facility are available from the superior rooms, but our front desk is at disposal of our guests to satisfy any request to make their stay enjoyable. The hotel was clean and provided an extensive buffet-style breakfast. It was an 8 minute walk to the Colosseum and a 2 minute walk to Cavour train station to travel to places such as Vatican Museums.

This hotel is only a 5 min walk to the Colosseum and the Roman Forum, 2 min to a train station, easy to access many restaurants!

We paid 919.83 EUR and booked a Classic Double Room for 5 nights in five months advance, but when we checked in we were given a Basic Option Room. It was the smallest room on the floor and had a dividing door that was no soundproof at all between our room and next door. We could hear TV noise and talking from the other side of the door. The bathroom basin was blocked when we arrived. The bedroom air conditioning was not working. We felt so cold at night and couldn’t sleep well. This 4 star hotel offers motel style cheap room settings. There were only 2 paper cups with 1 coffee stick, 1 tea bag, 1 sugar pack in bedroom and 2 disposable cups in bathroom for use. After complaining the following day, we were relocated to a classic double room but there was an additional single bed jammed in the room. The room still didn’t like the picture showing on Agoda booking side. We didn’t get what we paid for.
With the amount of accommodation available in Rome it is always a daunting task booking somewhere new. Having read the reviews we opted for this. I can say that that was a good choice. Ideally situated for the Colosseum, Roman Forum and Palantine Hill. Everything else was within a 20-30 min walk which with so much history around is worth while. Lots of bars and restaurants within walking distance. Breakfast excellent choice. Rooms good and we had a nice balcony to have drinks on. Overall excellent choice.

The best feature of this hotel was the wonderful breakfast options. They had a wide time frame to eat breakfast in the morning (6:30am-10am) and they had so many options of delicious food. My room was small, but it was clean and the walk-out balcony was a nice touch. When it wasn't too cold, we would hang out on the balcony, which was pretty cool. We were extremely close to the Colosseum, however, the Trevi fountain and Spanish steps were quite a ways away (20+ minute walk). Nonetheless, we enjoyed our time there and would consider staying again if ever in Rome.

Everything was great. Modern hotel. Nice, clean & large sized (for Europe) room. . Friendly helpful staff. Great internet in the room. Good breakfast. We really enjoyed staying in this hotel. Location of the hotel is excellent: 5 minutes walk to Coliseum, 7 minutes walk to Forum, 12 minutes walk to Centeral Train Station. Try the “local” Italian restaurants right behind the hotel. We loved the one we tried (“Old Rome”). If I was going to improve something, it would be showing the Italian Soccer matches on the TV in the room,. One word of warning. We were charged 6 Euro per a night a person “City Tax” in addition to what we thought was full payment when we booked on the internet. We were told by staff ( in a friendly way) that everybody has to pay this City mandated tax.

Really pleased with this hotel. Great location and large rooms for a European hotel. Took a tour and they booked it but I stayed a extra 3 days. Front desk was super helpful and spoke English as alas I speak no Italian. Breakfast was good and included. Couldn't be happier.

After reading many positive reviews, I got courage to go with FH Grand Hotel Palatino. But, I regret my decision. The only good thing about this hotel is the location which is very near to Colosseum and with many good Italian/Indian restaurants, Ice cream/Grocery shops nearby. * Staff was rude - When we reached there, they said only one room is ready and the second room will take some time as cleaning is in progress. Thereafter, Nobody informed me for couple of hours about the status of another room. * After couple of hours, I reached the reception and asked them for the second room and the Male at reception had no clue about it and was very rude in body language and even threw my papers as he don't even care about customers. * Mini bar fridge was not working for one of the room. * There were no coffee/tea pouches in the room and reception said we have a policy of not serving tea/coffee in rooms - strange, but acceptable. * On the breakfast, we were asked to be quite with kids.

Stayed here 4 nights, and if was excellent. Room was nice, big, clean with all the facilities. Breakfast was amazing with millions of choice. Stuff were efficient and polite. Would only stay there if we return to Rome. Thank you guys for looking after us.

4 Star hotel should provide with the coffee in the room and the proper cups not the plastic ones. Didn’t really enjoy the breakfast. The staff was really nice.

I booked this hotel as advertised onsite parking a per their website was important in the center of Rome . Turned out not to be the case, try to park a car in the middle of Rome with non assistance from the hotel. Answer was a 40 euro option and very difficult to get to. The staff were of no help whatsoever. On top of that, they then tried to tell me my booking was inconreect and although I had booked for three adults and one child that they had only 3 adults and that I would need to pay extra. I then showed my booking confirmation for three adults and one child to which they said with arrogance, sorry our mistake. Now! I am a well seasoned reasonable business and personal traveler. This hotel is totally shambolic, so avoid booking this at all cost. It’s acclaim and pricess are a joke.

The colleague at Front desk realized immediately that he had made a mistake asking you to pay the supplement for the child, as it was specified on the reservation that it was for 2 adults and 1 child. He apologized for the mistake. Regarding the parking, as you find specified on booking.com, public parking is available at a location nearby, and a charge is apply. There are several choices in the area (5/10 minutes maximum from the hotel), and the rates of the Garage in the city centre is more or less 35 Euro per day. We hope that we will be able to show you our great level of service should we have the chance to welcome you back to Grand Hotel Palatino in the near future. Front desk did not behave well. Insisted on a taxi out front and wouldn't call a regulation cab. We were way overcharged and dropped blocks from our destination. Won't provide wake up calls and ice is "fetch it from the bar". Not even a smile here or there.

Hotel only short walk from main railway station, close to metro stations, close to major attractions, colosseum just around corner as well as Roman forum and other main attractions. Hotel comfortable, room sizes good, bathroom we had was average, staff friendly and helpful,

The location is close to the Colosseum. It is on a street with restaurants, convenience stores, souvenir shops, and ice cream parlour. The hotel is definitely grand. The rooms are spacious and clean. The staff speaks English, and they are very friendly and polite. The lift is super slow. I think the hotel should really invest in a new one. The hallways show age. The breakfast was good, but not great. I think they should be serving potatoes with the eggs. There should be coffee machine/electric kettle in the rooms as well.

First time and first stay in Rome. Great location. Very helpful staff(always nice to have someone to help to get around.) Food was good. Had this lovely balcony room on the top floor, would def stay again if coming back to Italy. Great job and keep up the work.

Hotel is starting to show its wear and tear, rooms were ok but it does not keep noise out from rooms next door or the hallway. So if you lucky to have a room next door with a loud family, well i'm sure you get the picture... Breakfast was nice and the restaurant in the hotel makes some nice food. Not sure i'll come back because of the noise problem in the rooms.

We are a family with a 10 year old child. The hotel has a perfect location, walking distance from many attractions and a 5 minute walk to the Colosseum. The room was comfortable and most importantly the airconditioning was working properly in the August heat. The only problem we had was that although we had pointed out in the booking form that we would be arriving 8-9am, we were told upon arrival that there weren't any rooms available as checkin is at 2pm but maybe a room would be available at 12. We were very tired after travelling for over 8 hours in the night and it didn't sound logical that there weren't any available rooms in sucha big hotel. When we started falling asleep in the lobby, we were told that they found a room for us! Although we had a room after an hour from our arrival, it would have been much more convenient had the information about our arrival time been taken more seriously from the start. But the rest of our stay went well.

The hotel was in a very good location within close walking distance of the Coloseum and Palantine Hill. Taxi access to piazza Navona was very reasonable. The hotel room was a good size and beds were comfortable. The staff was helpful with parking info and directions. My only complaint is that no iron was available - you had to use there service to have something pressed.

The whole stay was pleasant and the breakfast buffet had nice selections. My mom and I ordered a room service and it came on a separate table with very nice touch to make it more memorable. What really surprised us was the driver they arranged for us to drive back to the airport. When the hotel staff told me that it is basically the same price but they just want to make sure we get the good service from the taxi driver, I thought he just said it. The car was very nice, clean and the driver was so professional that I wish I could hire him for my own car/business! While driving to airport, he pointed out all important buildings and explained about the history behind it. He really made the finale of the trip great!

We were short distance to many restaurants, good shopping and all the tourist sites were walking distance

The best thing about this hotel is the location. It is in Monti, one of the best neighbourhood to be in. Rome, as in many cites flooded by tourist, hotels are worst then the average. This hotel ids a 4 star with an almost 3 star feel (and it's not cheap) . Rooms are clean and with good enough space and Bfast is ok. Bed is very good and room was quiet. Normally I would give a 4 stars rating, but I gave 3 because: 1. I had to cary 3 pieces of luggage by my self on the check in. No one offered me help at all. 2. they booked a car for my way to the airport that never showed up . It took them 25 minutes to find me a new car. However, it took "only" 25 minutes because I kept insisting they get a new car. Luckily I was way ahead of time and did not loose my overseas flight. Overall it is an ok hotel and would only go back because the location is so good.

Reception was Nice, clean rooms n wholesome breakfast. Reception area quite untidy and receptionists are forgetful..we booked a taxi twice when we were leaving and they forgot both times.

There are lots of good restaurants around hotel . Rooms are clean, hard to find triple beds and the beds are very comfortable

Unparalleled location. Very nice service and an above average breakfast buffet. Less than 1000 yds/meters to the Coliseum. Quite a few delightful restaurants also within walking distance.

Arrived at the hotel no help was given with our luggage up to rooms as we had a 6month old baby! so wasn't very impressed with that , and expensive for what it is but a good location .

Had a great experience here. You can’t beat the location, just a few blocks from the Colosseum. The room was a good size and felt newly redone. I would definitely go back here.

FH Grand Hotel Palatino is one of the best options in case you want to explore Rome little bit on your own but have no time. Service is very good, hotel staff is very attentive, friendly and will really make you feel like at home. Rooms are comfortable, clean and airy. I would definitely recommend this hotel to all solo travellers since the area is very safe.

Old hotel and facility. It doesn’t qualify as a four star at all. Even though the “New Style” room are renovated in 2011, the bathroom water temperature control did not upgrade accordingly. Room temperature control is another headache. No heating control and AC is only available during summer. We had to open the windows at night to keep rooms at manageable temperature, which meant noise from the street. Also bad noise insulation and very weak WiFi connection. There are lots of of better hotels with similar places are nearby, I suggest to go for other options definitely.
We got a triple-plus room. Good location, fine room & breakfast, but the bathroom made us depressed. Can’t believe it’s a four-star hotel.

Excellent location and a very good hotel. The breakfast could have been better if an option or two of warm dishes were also added.

Loved its central location. We travel quite frequently n have never had a problem with electrical adapter. They only had European plugs. Unable to use Northern America small appliance. Phone charger

We went to Rome in August. It was hot. The hotel rooms have good AC. It saved our day. We went out to walk early in the morning when it was still cool. We came back to hotel rooms at noon when it was hot outside. Our hotel rooms were cool with great AC. The hotel is 10 minutes walk to Colosium and Roman Column. The breakfast is nice too.
