Value for Money.
GOOD
I checked in at 8 pm on 25th August 2018. They put a stiker in their wall was saying, VISA card accepted here. But the Manager informed me, they don't accept any sort of card!!!!!!!!!!!!. I paid fu;; for three days. But on 26th Agust, I asked to clean the room, but a guy named Inda at the office said that, they won,t clean the room as we have checked late on 25th. !!!!!!!!!!!!!! I paid full room rent for 25th and they rudly denied to clean the room!!!!! And more over, they didn't clean when i checked out on 28th August. Worst behaviour, worst room service and worst location if you want to go to new market, There is no money exchane, no shop for mobile sim.
Need more toileties product like shampoo, toothpaste, tissue paper. Blanket was harsh. No locker at room. WiFi signal was weak.
Good
Staff of the hotel makes you feel like at home. Thanks a lot!
Staff was not professional
Its good place but rooms are not so great.
When I reached the hotel, the manager told me that they don't have any room, though I had booked the hotel with Agoda. He told me so many lame excuses and finally give me two rooms, while I booked for 1 room for three people. Other then that Location is good and compound is quite clean.
The place was alright. The rooms were clean enough, although incredibly simple. The real problem here is who I can only imagine is the owner, due to his incredibly arrogant and rude disposition. As a guest, I think it's reasonable to inquire about such common things as taxis to and from the airport. Upon asking for information, I was met with an unreasonable level of hostility, snapped at and ignored and told that he "doesn't remember" and he "doesn't know anything" and rudely dismissing me as if I am a huge inconvenience to his life. This much attitude for a very normal inquiry from a hotel guest is entirely inappropriate and this man should be ashamed of himself. I would not recommend coming here.
Great location. Easy transportation & close to New Market.
Imposing building behind 2 big gates , down a side st . When you step out of the gates you feel like you are going back in time , fantastic experience. We plan to visit Kolkata next year and will be staying there again
I checked in at around 1:00AM. o had little doubt whether the will accept/honor the agoda booking.. they did and they kept the room ready for me. it's in not near to high street but still not bad. can call it value for money
Arrived 2am and banged steel gate to get in but staff very helpful
So my original Kolkata sleeping arrangements fell through but luckily was able to book this room a few hours before I would check in, so the price was a bit more expensive than if I had booked ahead of time, still a good price. I booked the cheapest, a double room with fan, and it was very nice. The room wasn't stuffy, the sheets were clean, and the bathroom was clean with good water pressure and a shower (I was expecting just a bucket haha). The staff was friendly and helpful, and even though I checked out at 11am, they allowed me to keep my stuff in their lobby closet and I had no issues with theft (nor was I worried since it was in a closed room). Would recommend for a good place to stay close to the main road(2min bus ride to Esplanade metro).
clean well maintained place. a bit far from city centre.
room is small but clean The last day i stay in India, an old man (the owner) took me to buy the can which is making the Lassi by his moto bike, we drive for 10 minute and asking the store one by one, and we found it finally~~~~ its a small thing, but really touch my heart, thank you!
This hotel is very cheap, even by Indian standards, so you get what you pay for. It was basic but ok.
let's start with location: crowdly, noisy, dangerous. In the middle of some kind of Kolkata's slums I guess. All night you're going to hear let's say "love sounds" from the street, also the shouting voices, cars, rikshas and so on. Cleanliness: good if you take the Indian scale, poorly if European Personel: that's whole other story - they didn't talk to my wife, even with me they're rude. Man in reception doesn't want to call a cab for us and said that we can catch some on the street (there were any, only riksha and we had two heavy backpacks and my wife is a blonde and everybody look at her like an hunting animal). We took uber instead. Facilities: wifi (bad, but existing), only cold water, some dirty towels and (!) toilet paper. So no, I do not recommend this place.
It was ok. Nothing really special.
The location feels quite 'local', but still only ten minutes walk from New Market and Sudder Street. Nice and clean rooms, staff are friendly too and they bring tea to your room every morning!
I have booked this hotel before, but because of my flight delayed, i missed this room. I tried to called agoda to solved my problem and agoda said they tried to called the hotel and no picked up the phone. Agoda said to me to come to this hotel next day. Next day, i came to this hotel at night about 01 am because of my fligt schedule. Unfortunatelly, many times i pressed the door bell, no one didnt open the door for me. Until i met local people to help me then they opened the door. Can you imagine, in the morning at 1 am, I'm alone outside in another country?
Basic stay close to Taltala market
Cheap and cheerful hotel. No frills but delivers all the basics. A good walk through Taltala market will take you to Sudder, Lindsay and Park Street areas
I booked at short notice and the room was waiting for me when I arrived, with no related problems. The hotel is surprisingly quiet for Kolkata. A small courtyard and big gates act as insulation from the madness and mayhem of Kolkata outside the gates. Transport is easy – rickshaws and taxis everywhere or just hop on a bus that is going in the right direction. Esplanade, New Market and Sudder St. area not far and by bus or other. The room was clean and big enough for a short stay. I will stay there again.
The manager was really nice and helpful. The hotel is located a 10 minute walk away from the New Market and about 20 minutes to Park Street. Is alright for 1 night.
area is rowdy. apart from this I cant say anything else as I only stayed overnight and didn't go out of my room (even to eat) because it was so rowdy outside.
Apparently 24hr check in but we had t
Convenient location for affordable accommodations
The mattress provided hardly had any cushion. The room had an A/C without a remote control. Hence, I had to turn the power switch ON/OFF whenever required. The geezer (2 or 3 Litre) in the bathroom is very tiny for a shower facility.
I arrived at the hotel after dark and alone after having booked and paid the night prior through Agoda. I was told by the manager that I needed to have booked at least 2 days in advance and so I couldn't get a room. (This was not disclosed on Agoda.) Eventually they reluctantly let me stay in a bigger room than the one I booked since it was the only room available, but told me I "may need to change rooms tomorrow." After packing all my belongings in the morning and preparing to move out, they ended up letting me stay in the same room 2 nights, but overall I felt was treated like a nuisance the whole time I was there. The room was acceptable but I would skip this place on account of the staff.
I would never book this hotel if I knew before their standard and conduct.
Good Hotel. Not expensive if you consider I got my private room with my own bathroom. Cleanliness was ok. It was my only choice cause it was 5 days straight holidays so every accommodation was quite full. Really good wifi. Really bad breakfast (a mini cupnof tea with cookies) and 25 mins walking time to Esplanade Metro station.
It's clean and the staff are friendly. Unfortunately there are no good restaurants around and there is squalor all around. But inside the fencing of the building, th
Like it, feels like home!
Might be the worst thing that you can say about a hotel !!!!! Those hungry little unseen critters had me for dinner. Stayed here before with no problems, maybe I just got the wrong room. Twenty minute walk to Sutter St but you see parts of Kolkata you wouldn't otherwise see.
The place is simple and laid back..thanks!
The staff here are very pleasant, I checked out of another guest house I was staying at because of awful conditions, this hotel was clean with good staff. It's a bit away from most places you might want to go to daily but you get a look at the real Calcutta the moment you walk out of the front gate. I'd stay here again without hesitation.
Do not order anything non-in-menu at biryani house, next to this hotel's gate, because the restaurant's owner will charge you money more The hotel is quite clean, wifi is good, the room size about 6-8 m2
A good place to stay tv in rooms and tea and biscuits for morning. The staff were very helpful anything you asked them they will have answer for you not to close to decent food places and bout 25 minute walk to metro station.
Georgian Inn was an oasis for us during our stay in Kolkata. The Internet was the high point. Decent Internet service is hard to find in economical hotels in Kolkata. Not only was the wifi in the room quite good, they even let us use it a couple of times in the lobby after we had moved to a different hotel (just for a bigger room for two beds). All of the staff were super friendly and helpful, especially the Manager (owner?). Also, the location right in the middle of Toltala was excellent if you're looking for a real Kolkata neighborhood with markets, street food and lots of locals. We recommend Georgian Inn without reservation. Thanks for a great stay, folks!
Basic rooms, small, but perfect location if u are a photographer.. mgmt was very helpful and accommodating.. no western bf (like omlette & toast) nearby though unless you walk 1.5 kilo or so.. beer store right next door helps
Satisfactory
After check out, the staff helped me to search for my passport by bike. (I left it at Sikkim House) I appreciate it!
not very bad...
It's alright for a stopover, didn't expect much just a bed and a shower, got what I expected
nice location but the first time is not easy to find
Place is pretty run down inside, staff are ok. The location is great for photographers as its tucked in near ally ways of Kolkatta
The room was very small and extremely loud. They had a lot of construction going on in the hotel. Location is a long walk from metro. The staff were friendly though
“Okay budget hotel”
The hotel located next to traditional market, it is 2 km away from everywhere. In summer time it could be a problem.
