Room was small and basic but clean. TV reception was very poor. Room Air Conditioner did not have a remote control and discovered that it did not work anyway. Office staff informed that they knew it did not work and would contact me with with an update on repair although never returned contact. The Bombora is basic accommodation with great access to Coolangatta shopping/eateries and beach. Parking was difficult with not enough parking on site and very limited street parking in area. I Probably wouldn't stay there again.
Great place if you don’t expect a fancy but basic place to stay in a good lication
45 minutes drive from Movie world and Wet'n wild but otherwise we should have paid double during the Easter break. It is clean
Bombora is a great little place in a convenient location to Coolangatta shops, parkland and beach. Will be even better once breakfast room is available again.
Was good value for money considering was family room ( double bed + 2 singles). Didn’t have a microwave which was annoying as I have back issues and couldn’t heat up wheat bag. But clean and relatively comfy, no bells or whistles, only couple minutes walk to beach.
Old, dirty,. broken, tiny rooms, no staff on site and VERY over priced.
got what i paid for. small room, shower screen has never been cleaned .cockroaches in room, bed comfortable but small air con great. pool good
We booked to go here for 3 nights 1-4 April. We were due to fly in to Ballina but due to the airport being closed due to the floods, our flight was cancelled. We asked if we could have a credit to use at a later date and the answer was no. They could have easily rebooked this as there were people who were looking for accommodation due to their homes being flooded and uninhabitable. It was also the lead up to school holidays and nothing was available in Coolangatta. After all the disappointment and cancellations over the last two years from Covid and border closures you think they’d have a little more sympathy to natural disasters such as this. I didn’t cancel for personal , Jetstar cancelled my flights so how else was I supposed to get there. Shame on you Bombora, where are your morals?
AC not working room facilities basic
If you’re thinking of staying here…. DON’T… rooms are nothing like the photos. Extremely small rooms with a dbl and very small single bed, no microwave, hot tap doesn’t work. We booked for 3 adults were given 2 mugs and 2 glasses for 3 of us to share. Sugar was wet, shower curtain let water run out onto floor, and curtain is filthy. Just disgusting. I gave them a 1 star rating only because it wouldn’t let me do a zero rating. No staff except 8.30am to 10.30 if they show up. Bloody disgusting.
Blood on doona, tv remote broken, noisy air conditioning from adjoining unit roared all night making sleep impossible. Advertised with breakfast availability - not so. Reception is open for minimal hours each day. Booked in and paid for three nights but will only stay two. In a word “dodgy “
There were lots of bad reviews wich worried me but l found the place satisfactory. It was clean, the pool was nice and only an 8 minute walk to the beach and shops
We left the place straight away did not even check in as it was very dirty and there was no Wi-Fi and the pool was black. Owner refuses to refund.
It's clean and tidy, great location, value for the price but nothing special.
We stayed for one night, deliberately wanting somewhere cheap and close to the airport. It was both these things, but nothing more. Do not be fooled by the photos - the pool is green and full of algae, totally unusable. The air conditioner in our room did not work and had bits falling off it, did not look like it had been working for many years. Be prepared to carry your luggage up and down stairs. The location was good - close to the airport, and walking distance to Coolangatta shops/restaurants, and well priced - just do not expect it to be like the photos!
Pros It's Cheap Cons Very limited parking, Room had no towels, cutlery or spare pillows/blankets Reception is only open 2 hours per day, The person behind reception was very nice Has drop box availability, however the 'safe' was always unlocked and everyone's key is in there own envelope, not really secure
When we arrived at 2.30pm (check in was after 2pm) sign said Reception was closed at 10.30am 6 days a week. No one around to give us a key. Another guest asked if we had towel in our room and I told her we couldn't even get in, she entered a code in a lock box for me to get my key. None of this was told to me prior to arrival. Had a letter that stipulated no basic services are available. There was no utensils, no toaster, no towels, no WiFi. The fridge was open and the freezer had major ice build up and door wouldn't close and the seal was broken. We had to buy an esky and Ice just to have cold water and milk. The fan and air-conditioning unit had dust and mould. It looked like it snowed with dust from the fan when turned on which was not good for 2 asthmatics. There were several other issues but I don't have time to write a novel. To sum it all up. It was not a nice stay at all. Definitely not worth the money. A local backpackers looked better.
Great rooms, location and facilities. Can be a little expensive depending on how You book.
Hi I'm a tradie that stayed at the Bombora resort for 3 nights, 2 out of the 3 nights I had to have a cold shower. The place is very very old and basic, but all I wanted was a clean bed and a shower, this place couldn't supply that. The only compensation they offered me was a free night, as if I'd go back. Avoid this place Louis
Bombora is a great low cost option but the facilities and surroundings need maintaining.
It's just a motel, no WiFi air-conditioning is broken, no microwave oven, just an old motel
Good cleanliness but property old and needs update, restaurant closed due to Covid, also advised that wifi not working, these items should have been on their Web site when I made the booking.
Clean bedding but could do with better vacuum and shower bleach
Upon arrival, was very quiet and convenient. Room was what we'd expected. Something small, quick and easy for a flight out in the morning. We moved the beds to allow the baby next to us. Upon moving them, we found roll on deodorant, chips, coffee mug and smaller items. However mattresses were lovely and we enjoyed our stay.
Staying at Bombora Resort was and great choice to stay because it's close to everything, shops, the strand, beaches, skate park and restaurants. It's all in walking distance.
The staff are amazing and very helpful ( Holly)
Was all I needed just some things not available. But that only due to COVID. I will be staying there again when I’m back.
The place is fine. It’s clean enough. However, there was a miscommunication between agoda and the hotel staff. I have paid twice even though I had already paid for my stay. Agoda didn’t give the payment to hotel which wasn’t very good. Next time I won’t choose Agoda for bookings!!!
Dead cockroaches and other bugs in bathroom and other areas. Dark and dingey room but in pretty good location. Will stay somewhere else next time.
overnight stay ok for this purpose
Was in a very good area
Stayed for 5 nights, Paid way too much for resort? Sparce amenities, no restaurant, no breakfast, no after hours service. At least the air con worked and it's close to the beach, otherwise not much positive to say.
This is a clean place within walking distance to the Beach plus Tweed and Coolangatta shopping centres and food outlets. It's a great place for one night but I was staying for more than that and it lacked what I have become accustomed to as standard in hotels where I usually stay. So it's great if you just need a one nighter and are travelling through. Not the best for me if you're staying a few nights and want to use it as a base.
Very poor service very unpleasant to stay in and old run down and very over priced!
The sink tap continually leaked at a steady rate and could be heard at all times. Advised the staff member but couldn't be fixed over the weekend. The air conditioner shook the railing of the balcony when it was running and was quite loud. There was no microwave. Bedroom and bed was comfortable though.
Bombora fronts as a fairly basic, inexpensive motel. It's not in a great location and the reception is only open in the morning (restaurant closed at time of review due to Covid). Parking is a bit limited. However, on the plus: it's a lot cheaper than the beach side hotels; free wifi; 10 minute walk to Coolangatta Surf Club. I was there for the GC50 running festival, and I was by myself, so it was great for me - it's clean and within east reach of the main drag in Coolangatta. Another bonus - the resort strictly points out that if you have a party in your room or your noise disturbs the other guests, you will be evicted. For someone that wanted a quiet retreat space before and after running an ultra marathon along the Coast, this was great. Bed was comfortable, air con was good, it was as much as I needed - would recommend as a cheaper alternative to the much more expensive hotels along the beach front.
Staff are fantastic - very friendly and helpful. Rooms are older style but very clean and have everything you need. Huge comfortable bed, good size television, bar fridge etc. Very quiet location overlooking massive park. I'm a regular and will be for a long time!
Good value
The staff are so lovely and I had my own balcony over the pool. then there's a walk through the park to the shops, one short block after that, one of the most beautiful beaches in Australia. So cheap for the position!! Other people pay that just to park out the front of the beach. Will go back!!
Great little resort..quiet clean and staff were friendly. Would stay again.
Great place
Due to covid my key was in a locked safe. Easy to use. The room was clean and comfortable
Cosy quiet apartment overlooking a park within a close walk to shops and beach. Good value. Not 5 star but clean with a quiet air conditioner.
It is value for money clean and walking distance to the best of Coolangatta and Tweed Heads. I like it
Fabulous location, close to beach, shops, cafes,s clubs , kid play areas and so on,
I found it to be clean and good value for money and only a short walk to everything Coolangatta and Tweed Heads has to offer.
great location
Stayed for one night prior to an early flight out, room is outdated but perfectly clean and comfortable for a one or two night budget visit. No frills, no fuss. Aircon worked well but fan seemed to only have one low speed setting. 5min drive to airport and short walk down to beach/main promenade. Would recommend for a budget stay in the area.
The motel was lovely .graet views from blacony over Looking park .walk to shops five minutes. Staff were great very helpful we Be back thank you kathleen
“Stay clear”
This place was the worst accomodation we have ever stayed at. Only half the lights worked in our room, didn’t even want to use the shower as the floor had hair all over it and the drain was half blocked from the amount of hair in there. When down in the lobby we noticed other people checking in that had no keys left for them in the after hours box. And the place had a terrible smell inside the hallway and in the staircases
