“サイトの内容が違う”

サイトでファミリータイプは浴槽付きとなっていたので頼んだが、全く違う。浴槽はどのタイプも無く、ファミリータイプも無し。写真も違う。サイトを信じたのにガッカリ。 しかし、スタッフの方たちが家族で暖かく、とても居心地の良いホテルだった。

“駅に近くて便利！”

日本語の話せるスタッフがいて、行きたい場所などをすぐ調べて下さり、助かりました。部屋と、シャワールームが狭いのが残念です。

2/16（土）からドミトリーで1泊予約しました。ドミトリーはMixルームだったので男性と同室になる可能性もあるのかと心配だったのですが、受付の方の配慮でシングルルームに変更して下さいました。また、予定があったのでチェックインの時間より早く到着してしまったのですが、すぐに部屋に通してもらえました。どちらも大変ありがたかったです。私が行った時にいた方はとても優しそうなおじさんでした。 チェックインで簡単な説明を受け、用紙にサインします。（入口の暗証番号や朝食施設の利用時間など） ゲストハウスは雑居ビルの４階で１フロアのみです。上下階が多少うるさいかもしれませんが、私はほぼホテルにいなかったのであまり感じませんでした。恵化駅の出口からは徒歩１分くらいで着きます。まわりは飲食店や劇場のような所が多くあったように思います。エレベーターもありますので、大きい荷物があっても大丈夫です。 私の泊まったシングルルームには必要な物がほぼ全てそろっていました。写真にある通りドライヤーとタオルがあり、TVもエアコンも小さい冷蔵庫もありました。大体どこもそうかもしれませんが、靴を脱いで部屋に上がるタイプです。バスルームはトイレとシャワーが一体型の韓国でよくあるタイプでした。ガラスの隙間からお湯が漏れるので、なるべくガラス側に向けてシャワーをしない方が良いです。気をつけていましたが、やはり多少漏れていました・・・。温度調節と湯量調節がちょっと難しいです(笑)シャンプー、リンス、ボディウォッシュが備え付けてあります。歯磨き粉はありませんでした。 それから、シングルと書きましたがベットも狭くはありません。全て快適でした。 朝食を利用できる時間にいなかったので朝食の事はわかりませんが、コーヒーサーバーやウォーターサーバーは常時使用出来るのではないかと思います。 2013年に改築と書いてありますので、部屋も設備も本当にキレイでした。次回もまた利用したいと思います。

“アクセスが良く、スタッフが親切！”

友人達と滞在しました。何よりもスタッフの方が親切で楽しく過ごす事が出来ました。地下鉄駅に近くにありますし、周りに遅くまで開いてる店が沢山あって、食事に困る事はありません。コーヒーは常時飲む事が出来ますし、朝食にパンがあります。ただ一つ気になる事は、部屋にトイレとシャワーがありますが、あまりに狭く、磨りガラスなので親しい間柄でないと難しいと思いました。(日本人には)

“GOOD LOCATION”

This is our third time staying here. We have been here every year since 2018. The facilities was good, breakfast was served with Jem, butter, bread, milk, cheese, orange juice & ramen. Good wifi & heater. Have washing machine but u have to get permission from the owner to use it. The only complained that we have is that eventhough we have been here three times but this time we felt like we are unwelcomed because the owner never greeted us or smiled in the course of 8 days 7 nights we were there but I am very grateful that he gave us permission to leave our luggages because our flight was at midnight eventhough he was hesitated at first. Didn't say goodbye when we leave😔 Maybe the owner can be a little bit friendlier 😀 Sorry to say that this will be our last time staying at Gilbert GH.

“Great Location, Economic”

I stayed in a single room over the course of a weekend (Friday-Sunday). The check-in process was easy, the room was perfect for a single person, and the staff was very accommodating. There is bread, jam, butter, and cup noodles to eat at any point of the day if you so desire. This hotel is located between exit 1 and 2 of Hyehwa station, one street back, and is the perfect location for exploring the surrounding area.

We had a pleasant stay at Gilbert. The only downside was when we had a late check-in, there was no instruction from the hostel on how to open the front door with a password on it so we waited for like 2-3 hours at the staircase and asked the help of the ahjussi on the 1st floor and got in. But overall, the location was great. We had our breakfast just once with toast and butter and jam but most of the time we were out the hostel early morning. The room was small if you have big luggages. You don't have to worry as there's an elevator in the building where the hostel is.

Overall the hotel is good. But for check in is a quite confusing. To enter lobby we need pin, and if before 1 PM we cannot enter and no one will help you. Even we called the hotel, no one pick up.

Arrived past midnight and though the front desk is only open until 10 AM, a staff waited for me. Good location and good room for a solo traveler. Provided food (cup noodles, bread, jam, milk, coffee) which were available anytime. CR working well. Very near to Hyewha station. Originally booked for 5 nights but had to leave on the 4th day due to a quite alarming incident. Just to share - mid afternoon of my 4th day, I got back and saw my stuff rearranged inside the room (examples - towels in the CR were on the floor, clothes hung were rearranged, and my shoes were displayed differently). I asked the front desk (male) and was told he entered my room and said sorry. He didn't explain further. Quite alarmed because if a staff entered, i would assume the room would be cleaned (though I didn't request for one), but to my surprise, it was not even cleaned. Decided to check out earlier because of this incident. Minus the incident I mentioned, the stay was okay.

“Great location to enjoy Korean plays in Daehakro but not very clean”

I liked this place for its location since one of my favorite things to do in Seoul is to go see all the creative plays in Daehakro. It was nice to see a play and just walk home to this hotel. But this hotel is not very clean. I spotted cockroaches twice, and the staff is just one person who is a bit taciturn or even seemingly grumpy at times, making me wonder why he would run a hotel. I would only recommend it only if you really love Korean plays or Daehakro, but otherwise, it is not worth the money.

Overall staying is fine. Because the check in time is late and staff trying his best to talk to us. Overall giving 7.5 out of 10.

“Best host ever”

The host was so nice, he helped us with everything and even helped us wash our clothes. Really cozy place and close to everything. We're 4 guys who enjoyed staying here! We will for sure come back. Free coffee, water, noodles, bread and good internet.

“Would recommend”

This is my second time staying at the guesthouse. I came back because I love the location, it is perfect for me. It's easy to get to popular locations, lots of great restaurants near by.The owner is friendly and leaves bread + ramen available to eat anytime. The room is clean and provides towels/soaps to use. I'd stay a third time for sure.

Very nice location closed to subway and convenient, it has private bathroom at each room. There is cup noodle at kichen that you can have it anytime you want to.

“Exceeded our expectations!”

The location is perfect - about less than a minute walk to Hyehwa Station and to the bus stop. Right outside the building is an Olive Young branch, coffee shops, restaurants, shops, and even the Marrioners Park just a block away. The room is complete with everything a traveller might need for a good night’s sleep but the free use of the common area with the free snacks is a really great add-on. Gilbert is a great host and we would definitely stay here again.

Near to Subway Station just about 2-3 minutes walk. A lot of shops nearby. Breakfast provided with bread, jam, butter, coffee, tea & ramyeon (cup noodles). Heater & wifi works perfectly. “AMAZING, AMAZING, JUST AMAZING”

This is our second time here. The host is very nice and accommodating. The place is very clean & neat. Location wise is good very near to Hyehwa Station (Exit 2). Heater works perfectly fine. Free meals, coffee, bread, jam, noodles all day long. Good Wifi. We really enjoyed staying here for 4 nights. Gilbert Guesthouse will definately be our first choice and will come back again.

“Highly Recommended; Value for Money”

We had a great stay at Gilbert Guesthouse. The room and the common area are fully heated during our stay (winter season). You can eat bread and noodles anytime of the day. This is great after your tour, you can have a light snack. They have orange juice and coffee as well. Room is neat and clean. The place is near the station. We will surely book this place on our next trip in Korea.

Pros - free snacks (toast, spread, noodles, coffee and juice) which you can eat anytime. - perfect location. A minute-walk to Hyeywa station (exit 2). Lots of restaurants in the neighborhood. - value for money. -heater is working perfectly fine. The floors and the bed are heated which is perfect for winter. The only negative I could say about our stay is that the double room is too small, which makes it hard for us to move and arrange our stuff and luggages. We transferred to another room on our last night and we got the twin/bunk bed and the room is a lot bigger than the double. So if you are a couple with no problem in not sleeping together (lol) and you value the space more, I suggest book the twin especifically room no 105

Very good if you are on a budget. Very near subway station. I like how he makes available toast, tea and coffee any time of the day. Sometimes, you just need a light snack after roaming.

I really enjoyed staying here for 5 days. Nearest subway station (Jeonpo Exit 2) is like a one minute walk from the guesthouse. The staff are really nice and accomodating. Plus the food, internet connection and facilities are really nice. I will really recommend this to my family and friends. P.S - also a walking distance from Ihwa Mural Village, Naksan Park & Marrioner Park ☺

Very good location in university district, right next to subway exit. Clean and tidy, very reasonable price. Nice host and good service. A little bit cold at night but still acceptable. Love the Daehakro district, with lots of small cafes and cake shops around. Will definitely come again!

“EXCELLENT LOCATION”

We booked for 7 nights stay and it was pleasant. Located near Hyehwa Station Exit 2 (Stairs) or you can use the Elevator next to it. Free Coffee, Tea, Bread & Jam available all days. You can use a washing machine and the owner gave us a rack to dry our clothes. Room was clean and bed was comfortable. The WIFI is super fast. A lots of restaurant nearby there is KFC & MC D. The only cons was the water heater was not functioning very well sometimes it becomes extremely cold and extremely hot eventhough you have adjust it. Room a bit small and will be too crowded for 4 adults if you book the Family Room but with 2 Adults & 2 Children it is okay.

“Excellent Location and Neighborhood”

Very close to the metro and lots of theaters and business nearby! I have stayed there twice. It has changed the name and management. Although the new staff does speak well English, it did not bother me, on the contrary, let me feel comfortable and quiet.

I like Daehangno area because it has nice eateries without getting too busy or crowded. This guesthouse is in a good area, very close to subway station. Good to have a way of calling Gilbert when you arrive (local phone or Skype would both work)

It's located at line 4 near Hyehwa station which is a great place for one that is interested in Korea's theatre culture. And also the shopping spot, Myeong dong is at the same line and thus it's pretty convenient for buying souvenir. The staff is nice and willing to help as well.

Pros - value for money. Location just next to hyehwa station (1 min walk). Hyehwa station is 1 station away from dongdaemun and nearest attraction is ihwa mural village. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Free coffee, tea, bread, jam, and instant noodle available all day, not only during breakfast time. There is washing machine available but no dryer. “A nice place”

Modern and safe guesthouse. Small room without window but OK if you don't plan to stay there all the time. Seems like the owner wasn't speaking English. Cleaning lady was very nice. Breakfast was simple but nice. Would recommend to small budgets.

“Strategic location but extremely small room”

Pros: 1.location, walk distance to hyehwa station Cons: 1. Extremely small, other than bed , you don't really have much space in room 2. Water heater is not functioning very well. The heat level is not consistent and it goes extremely cold and extremely hot when you're bathing, which it's very not comfortable especially during winter. 3. We experienced black out during our stay but fortunately they fixed it within 1 hour. 4. Their staff can't really speak English but they did tried to communicate ... 5. Limited breakfast although it's ald included in packaged, perhaps it's free ?, it's only bread jam and coffee... Recommendation 1. Fixes the water heater 2. allocate someone who know basic English to handle customer 3. Prepare better breakfast even if you charge extra Conclusion: if you're looking for a budget place to sleep only, it's worth it as the location is convenience and price is ok; but if you're looking for more comfort stay, I would say "no".

The staff is nice, speak English. The guesthouse is so close the subway exit.2. But a bit small room and breakfast is some bread and egg.

My family stayed in the guesthouse for 3 nights from May 26 to May 29 2014. Check-in was fast and the female manager was pretty, nice and friendly and spoke good English. The air-conditioned room although small as expected, had everything in: 3 comfortable beds, a shower room with shower soap, shampoo and conditioner, a good TV, space for hanging clothes, tables, a small refrigerator, water-heater, hair-dryer, electric plugs. Every morning the hotel provided basic breakfast incl. orange juice, coffee, toast, butter and jam. It also had a large refrigerator if you need to freeze more stuff. The hotel is near the Hyehwa Metro station (2 min. walk) which is only 1 station away from Dongdaemun station (shopping, sightseeing location with numerous restaurants). There are also a lot of restaurants and shopping malls near the area (Daehakro) without the need to take a taxi or metro.

The rooms were clean and comfortable, staff were extremely helpful. The guesthouse was in a good location and major sights are walking distance. Close to mrt.

“Tiny rooms but great service”

We stayed here 3 nights and it was great. Breakfast is toast and orange juice and tea/coffee with access to a fridge and coffee/tea all the time. The lovely girl on reception, Sophie, was able to help us with tours, lent us a travel adaptor, have us travel advice and loaned us a train card. The pillows were massive and gave us neck ache and they didn't have any smaller ones so we used rolled up towels! Very small rooms but good value. Would stay again.

My son and I were booked for 3 days, The owner ensured we were taken care of, for anything we required! At breakfast he would sit and chat giving tips on places and times of things to do and see as well as amusing conversation on life in general to actually walking with myself to a Global ATM machine on the 2nd floor of a building 800 meters away to ensure I found it without any hassle! On our last night I rang Karl from the night markets at around 9.30pm due to a change in our plans to see if I could get another night with my two daughters joining us! he shifted a few people around and upgraded another gentleman to accommodate my request allowing myself and my three kids ( age 19-25 ) plus an extra friend to stay in one room together! Having stayed in many places from backpackers to 5 star hotels! most won't accommodate this type of request! I have to say without a doubt if you are wanting value for money accommodation with the most friendly yet professional service, and only a 2 minute walk to the metro which connects you to any where else you want to go in Seoul and the surrounding areas, DO NOT overlook the (24 Guesthouse Daehakro) Any future trips to Seoul and this will be my choice of place to stay!!! (If you are backpacking and on a limited budget! when booked through Agoda or one of the other discount sites it becomes an incredibly cheap homely place to stay!!)
