“Over all is great hotel”

The rooms are clean, quiet and private. Excellent service. The staff were also attentive. Feel safe and warm when you stay at this hotel. And near the famous temple.

The hotel is located in the center of thamel and is very accessible to all the areas. The hotel staffs including the manager Mr. Karma were very helpful. They were very polite and also helped me in shifting the rooms due to the error in booking. I would highly recommend this for short term stays.

Hotel Thamel is Located in the center of the Thamel. Hotel is very nice, and rooms are spacious. Nice, delicious food, Hotwater24/7. I will recommend and surly Visit back on my next stay to Kathmandu Nepal.

If you are on a budget this is acceptable but be prepared for small inconveniences. You get what you pay for!

The facility at this hotel thamel poorly maintained TV and air condition not working. Adding to that the shower was in bad condition did not feel like to have shower. Though the staff are so polite and kind and helpful. Need to maintain hygiene in the room and lot of things need to give attention.

Just set back from the busy street the hotel is ideally placed for exploring Thamel. I've stayed here many times before and always come back because of the location, the friendly staff, the good food and the value for money. Definitely recommended.

This hotel was in a prime spot for tourists. The rooms were clean and well maintained. The staff were very nice and the breakfast was a good mix of western and Nepal. There is a bit of outside noise during the night, but that would probably happen at any hotel in the tourist area.

Hello, I am a solo traveler that went to EBC and Lobuche Peak. I came a day earlier to check out Kathmandu and I recommend buying your gear for trekking here. The hotel is at the heart of all trekking gear shops. The team was very accommodating, alot of trekkers come here so you won't have a problem meeting other trekkers. When i had to go to the trip, I had an extra bag the team assured they would make sure the luggage will be safe when I come back from trekking I can pick it up and if I need a ride they would take me. I got back a few days earlier from my trek and i messaged them on WhatsApp, they were quick in response and allowed me to stay a day few days earlier. My flight is at 7:30 and they allowed me to do a late check out then a ride to the airport. The hotel is 12 minutes from the airport. I have to take a PCR test on the way back to United States, the team ordered me a Professional PCR tester to come to the hotel to provide me test and they will get the results by 1 pm. They really make sure everything is taken care of. There is breakfast every morning. I plan to stay here when I come back to climb Island Peak! I would recommend to my friends to stay here. The team makes sure you are happy and have everything you need. Thank you Thamel!!

The hotel does not observe the night silence. Some (Nepalese ) guest were very noisy drinking on the terrace until 3-4 am , but the hotel failed to do anything about it despite repeated request

The hotel is located right smack on Thamel. It’s ok for a night just to shower and sleep. But take note it’s very noisy throughout the night so if you plan to stay for more than a night, this is not the best place.

Hotel Thamel provided me and my friends a great place of respite in the busy Thamel district. The Hotel's entrance and lobby area adorned with art and exquisitely carved columns... one notices the quality of custom laid marble floors and fine art throughout the hotel. Comfy beds and reliable TV and WiFi are a bonus!

since 1992 i and my family have been frequent visitors to Kathmandu and have almost invariably stayed at the Hotel Thamel. Pema the owner, makes sure that everyone is warmly welcomed. The staff from the doorman to the front desk and wait staff are attentive and kind. The location is super on a quiet lane just outside the heart of Thamel. easy to get around to all the sites and places in the city. really a first class experience for the money. you'll be happy you stayed!

“Okay, but unprofessional staff”

We stayed at Hotel Thamel a couple of times (before trek and after). We had to leave early in the morning and the evening staff promised that they will have a packaged breakfast ready at 5:30 am. Nothing was prepared for us as discussed the evening before. We were very disappointed We also did not have warm water. There are a lot of choices in Kathmandu and we would probably stay somewhere else next time.

We were treated like Kings at Hotel Thamel. We stayed at the hotel at the beginning and end of our hotel. Great, varied breakfasts. Great menu at dinner. Front desk was most helpful and friendly at all times. I made an error with my second booking - so we needed an upgrade and we were upgraded to the suite. Hotel Thamel is perfectly located in the Thamel area ... shopping and eateries - but being on a side street - it's quiet. We will definitely be back. Thank you Mr Gurung and Team for making our stay at your establishment so special.

“Exceptional”

Me and my wife really liked this hotel. We booked this hotel for the second as our first stay was very good. Breakfast was good and the rooms were renovated . The most important thing was that there was hot water every time and not to forget the wonderful staff. This time the hotel organized our tour and we were very happy with what they have organized for us and the price was also reasonable. Would definitely recommend.

“Non responsive and rude”

We booked with Agoda and for the second time the website got our booking wrong. They didn't rectify this with the hotel and it caused a lot of discomfort for our stay and arrival. I emailed the hotel and requested a queen bed as I was travelling with my partner and although they said they would book is for that, they did not. It was very uncomfortable to try and explain when we arrived and they kept demanding more money from us. We are a same sex couple and they acted very inappropriately toward us. The whole stay was dampened as the manager agreed to help us but conviently wasn't around and the staff didn't know anything of the agreement. The hotel itself was certainly not 3 star level. The bed were uncomfortably hard and thin, the restaurant was average and the rooms were musty and outdated. Such an unfortunate experience for a Valentine's weekend in Kathmandu.

One of the best hotels that I have stayed in Kathmandu . The hotel is stable and secure even after devastating earthquake .our room had a very nice balcony which was a bonus. Would definitely come again.

Spacious room, clean,near to lots of restaurants and shops,Excellent WIFI. the hotel building did not sustain any damage during the earthquake. We can also leave our luggages for free during our treks.

“No Lift in this hotel”

If you have problems climbing steps, either ask for the lowest floor (if your type of room is available)or do not stay here. In our case there was a problem in our room on 1st floor, & we could only be shifted to the second floor to one step lower room. For breakfast, the staff is either not trained or simply indifferent. You be prepared to demand, then they get for you what you want, but is small quantities. I would not stay here again.

I only stayed 1 night. I arrived late, and the stairs railings were covered with Plastic sheets. I think they are still undergoing renovations. I exchanged USD 100 with the Hotel as I was travelling long distance early the next morning, but they did not issue me with any receipt, and the rate was also the lowest I encountered.

We booked 3 rooms for 3 couples. Hotel was recommended by others that had stayed here in the past. When we arrived Hotel said they did not have our booking. Honestly the way the staff was acting we we sure they knew and allowed the large group before us have our rooms. They accommodated by having us stay at a nearby hotel for the night although that hotel was cheaper and was not as nice. Thamel hotel manager did give some coupons for the girls to have a massage. Breakfast was mostly cold and bland bedsides the awesome flat bread. Try the Himalaya Java across from Fire & Ice pizza. both good places. Not sure we will be back at this hotel. Staff was friendly and kind as Nepalese are, just disappointing.

“Best Hotel I stayed at in Napel. ”

I stayed twice at Hotel Thamel while in Kathmandu. It was the best hotel I stayed at while in Napel. I stayed at about six other hotels, Thamel was the best. So close to everything right in Thamel. They have great staff. The owner of the hotel works onsite at the hotel, I was told by some one who knows him he is a very good person.

The room was clean and spacious. We had hot water all the time. The hotel is in a good location in Thamel, but in a quiet environment. The WIFI was good and the staff was friendly. Breakfast was so so, but ok. Decent budget hotel with good value for money.

The manager Samil and Prem went way beyond their duties to ensure that my stay at the hotel was a stay that I would remember for years to come. From organising trips to information of the local area, their knowledge was exceptional. The staff at the hotel were also very, very polite and helpful in all matters and were also friendly. I was made to feel part of the Thamel Hotel family and this touched me deeply and is part of my memory of the first trip ever to Nepal, but not the last. When I do return on my next trip I will be staying at the hotel Thamel. It will be like going home to my friends.

The manager and staff were very helpfull, advising me how to get about as well as taking me to the bus stand and airport in the early mornings twice. As first time visitors to Kathmandu, that was very important for me and my wife. But as far as the room was concern, it was bit noisy at night as we could hear loud guest coming back late nights and disturbing our sleep. The bed was comfortable but overall it was value for money.
