We had really a great time in Beijing, this hotel was very closed by the forbidden city, tienamen square and wangfujing pedestrian street and market. Sleeping quality was great: very comfy beds, simple but clean room, very quite, perfect heating, good bathroom with so many amenities. Reception was very professional and helpful, especially Mr.Rambo, Mis Zhang Min, the young Trainee.
The hotel is really close to Forbidden City (we walk) and to malls like APM. The closest subway station we found was less than a mile, where you can go to all the major attractions safe, faster and cheaper. The Hotel looks a bit old but staff was very helpfull and with good english. There's plenty good restaurants and stores on the same street.
Overall this hotel was pretty good value for money, with clean rooms and comfortable beds, friendly staff who tried their best to help guests out with all their requests, and a decent enough location that’s about a 10 minute walk to Wangfujing shopping street and 15 to the nearest subway station. We found the walk to the subway a bit too far for our liking, but otherwise had a pleasant stay here.
A good mid-price hotel conveniently located for visiting the main tourist sites in Beijing. The room was pleasant and clean with good amenities and a TV with CNN.The staff were friendly and helpful although some had limited English. The WIFI worked but you need to pre download a Chinese VPN to access the internet. There are some restaurants and high end shops in the immediate vicinity and for dinner we found the nearby "Peking Chamber" excellent but you need to book in advance
The room had burn Mark's on furniture, had a smoky smell (it was a non smoking room) the bed was uncomfortable. The ac did not work and was regulated and not within our control room change settings. The bathroom had been surfaced cleaned but was old with moldy edges.
The best part is the location. I wouldn’t consider this a 4 store hotel. Just because hotels have “amenities” doesn’t qualify them as a 4 start hotel. The 2 star hotel I stayed in in Shanghai was nicer than this hotel. I get that you get what you pay for but things need to be more accurate on the site. The hotel needs updating and renovation BIG TIME. We were supposed to get a king bed and we didn’t. The bathroom was not ideal. The tub was cracking and it was molding on the wall. We slipped in the tub every time we got in and just used the tub without the mat. The water pressure was not good and the water didn’t get very hot. You couldn’t control the AC so it was EXTREMELY warm during the day and warm at night, and in the summer it isn’t fun. Also, the beds are extremely uncomfortable. Very hard. I wouldn’t recommend. You definitely get what you pay for. I will say that the staff was very nice, and they were very helpful and understood English well.
Stayed over the weekend Friday - Monday.. Hotel was clean and beds were clean. (Had read some reviews that it was dirty) Location was a good enough being able to find food and convenience stores across the road. Neighborhood was old. But it is afterall near the forbidden city.....thus in the heart of 'ancient China!' big shopping malls about 300-400m away...
My family enjoyed the stay here. Very good location to most tourist spots in Wangfujing area. :)
They have done nothing in the last ten years. The roms is in a bad shape. The location and the breackfast is god, but thats IT. The wifi dos work somtimes.
Easy walk to Wangjing Street, for shopping and sightseeing around the Imperial Palace. Staff either speak English or easily use a translate app on phone - I would suggest everyone loads a translator app on your phone before travelling to China - makes communication with Hotels, taxi drivers etc easier. Rooms were clean, comfortable and breakfast was enjoyable. We often eat dinner in the small restaurants across the road.
This is a great location to stay if visiting Beijing only for the sight seeing (Forbidden City, Temple of Heaven, etc). Staff was friendly. Note that people are allowed to smoke on every floor so you might smell cigarettes even in a non-smoking room.
The location of the hotel is excellent. Forbidden city, Tien'an Men, Wang Fu Jing and Beihai park are all within comfortable walking distance. You will find convenience stores, shops and many restaurants nearby. The hotel seems to have a long and glorious history, but this also means it really requires to be renovated. Rooms are large, and although the interior is worn down, everything is still functional. Our room in the 5th floor was surprisingly quiet in the night. The bed was very comfortable. The staff is friendly and supportive.
Room ok, but accidentally open the set for shower (small towel, tooth brush..) which will charge for 58 RMB (and the hotel has provided the free set already), please be careful don't do the same thing as I did.
Calling this a 4 star hotel is a joke, more like a 2 star hostel in Europe I would say and even so I am not that sure. Location is quite good, near to the forbidden city, walking distance from 2 subway stations (but around 800-900m). The staff was not that friendly, the main photo is not the lobby entrance but side of the hotel, entrance is around the corner, but we had no problem in figuring that out. Now the really bad thing about this hotel is the cleanliness, for a standard room was really awful, you could see the carpets really old and dirty, bed was comfortable but bedsheets not that clean, the bathroom was old and not what you call a clean bathroom, no way we would take a shower in there, luckily we stayed only one night. We would never return there.
Very good hotel, pleasant stay. only difficult is English communication with hotel staff but all staff very helpful. highly recommend and will be back for next trip.
I was only at the hotel for 2 days and was busy on planned tours so I never got to use (or find out about) the Facilities hence only 3 star rating. With in walking distance of "The Forbidden City" and " Tiananmen Square" No complaints about the accommodation, the room was very large and clean and the bed was comfortable for a large male! Happy to use this hotel again
Clean rooms, had everything we needed for our 6 nights in Tokyo. Easy to the subway. Breakfast was nothing flash but it did the trick.
Location was good, nearby Forbidden city. The hotel is very old and need some renovation all over. we only had 1x breakfast as it was not very good although they offer a big assortment...wouldn't go back
Close to forbidden city and metro. Great food places over the road. A little tired inside but the history of the hotel is great. Staff were helpful and although some did not speak a lot of English, generally someone did. Very pleased we chose this hotel.
This is not a 4 star hotel. It is a decent 3 star tourist hotel. It is in need of a refresh. The big thing it has going for it is the location. It is within walking distance of the Forbidden City. There are very few staff who speak English so communication was challenging. There are several interesting eating places across the street which were very friendly and authentic! The picture is not the lobby entrance but it is an interesting shot!
Perfect location, walking distance to Wangfujing, Tiananmen, Forbidden City, etc...
Short walk to Tianamen Square and Forbidden City. Lots of restaurants, shops and atm's nearby. The hotel restaurant serves very nice food and the rooms are clean and spacious.
Hotel is very dated and the staff cannot communicate in English. Need to learn English and not say What! Bad manners. Our room was also very hot and air con could not be controlled
Stayed here for 5 days with my family. The location was great as near to all the major sights and also in walking distance to the shops and restaurants in Wangfujing Street. The breakfast was adequate, although more fresh fruit would have been nice. Scrambled/Omelette/fried eggs, bacon and other chinese dishes, various bread rolls and toast were available daily. There were two situations that could have been better. The first was the bar could have stayed open till after 9pm. The other was the air-conditioning in the room should be controlled by the room and not the hotel. It was off while we were there a week ago and the room reached 27deg, even with the window open. When we asked at reception to turn it down we were told it was out of season and they couldn't. Trying to explain that it was very hot for us, got lost in translation. Having said this, it did not put us off staying there and for price and location I would recommend it to others.
Reception staff was good n helpful. Room was okay but housekeeping was very very bad. They didnt change bedsheet during entire stay , didnt even vacuum the room, toilettries had to be requested.insects bite marks all over body.overall bad experience.
We liked how close to the Forbidden city our hotel was. Also it' very quiet for a good night's sleep. And they have cnn and 2 movie channels in English. Plus it's very clean, the bed is comfortable and the pillows are soft. Plus the cost of the hotel is a good price. Would highly recommend this place to stay.
I can see how the. JG is a popular hotel. Nicely located close to Wangfujing Street, the Forbidden Palace, and Tianamen Square it is also near some nice eateries and shopping. Close by is Little Yunnan, Beijing Pie and, just down the street, a nice strip of hotels with good restaurants. They had adaquate Internet, lock boxes and a good breakfast. The place was clean and staff were good but basically left you alone unless needed. Check in and out was simple. The rooms were clean and well made up. The whole place is safe and secure. Be sure to stop at Beijing Bike, a 10 minute walk away, it is the only way to see the city and sights. Avoid the taxis and subway. Also, use Bruce as a great guide for the Wall visit or any where around Beijing. A traditional-looking hotel at very good location
The hotel is within ten-minute walk to the east gate of the Palace Museum. Nice old-fashioned interior design, but there might be cigarette smell in a non-smokng room.
Location: relatively close to Wangfujing (10 min. walk), but not very close to Tiananmen Sq (15-20 min. walk) Pros: clean, good value for money Cons: the main issue is the sound from the corridor can be heard from inside the room; when i stayed at this hotel, in the morning the housekeeping staffs chatted with quite loud voice among them and I could be heard clearly from inside the room. The reception staff in the lobby were also indifferent and busy with something else when I checked in.
You can walk to Wangfujing night food street, forbidden city, tiananmen square. Hutong and many other places.
Convenient hotel at good location, near to the Beijing wang fu Jing at around 10mins walking distance. Comfortable hotel
Nothing
Very good location for the historic side of Beijing. Very friendly reception staff. Service was a little slow in the restaurant but the staff were friendly.
The hotel location is quite convenient, not so far from wang fu jing street, but still have a 5 minutes walking distance. The staff was very nice and helpful. Hotel environment and room was look old but still acceptable, at least clean and comfort.
Perfect Location for visiting Wangfujing and Hutongs at the same time. The in room amenities are more than satisfactory. However, I would suggest staff to speak better English and improve the conditions of the beds (they were too hard).
Nothing to complain about. This hotel lacks the luxury suggested by 4-star rating, but suited me perfectly for a 4-day stay near the classic centre of Beijing. Staff were helpful and spoke enough English to communicate well. Travel agent with office in the hotel arranged an economical tour to the Great Wall. Breakfast included with room was satisfactory, not great but sufficient. Room was far from luxurious, but comfortable and clean. Best of all is the location: Easy walking distance from metro line, Forbidden City south and north gates, TienAnMen Square, shopping and eating. A longer walk to old-ish part of city, just south of TienAnMen, and beyond that to the Temple of Heaven. As an older, single male traveler, I would definitely book here again.
we picked this hotel because mainly of the photos depicting what we thought would be a nice hotel. Hotel wasn't anything like the hotel photos. rooms were old and grubby. Aircon was appalling despite constant complaining they did nothing about it. towels you could see through. breakfast was ordinary. Wouldn't recommend this hotel EVER. Location was the only good thing.
It was good, and comfort room. Only when we check in there is already openned bath merchandises but still complete inside and we didn't tell to the staff. It maked some misunderstanding during checkout, they claimed those merchandise to us. But after clarification then it's ok, we don't need to pay anything.
Happy
Wonderful value. Nice people.
I stayed in the hotel for 7 nights. But, the staffs at the counter have never greeted u good morning, good afternoon or good evening whenever we walked passed thru the counter. They don't even can remember my sir name as a guest who stayed there for 7 nights. Sometime, we sought for their advise on how to get to one destination, they just pointed us outside to ask us to walk right or left to get MRT. Walking to MRT is taking us about 30 minutes, walking to Wangfujing street is taking us around 25 minutes. Walking to Forbidden City (front entrance is taking around 50 minutes. So overall, the location of the hotel is not situated at the strategic location. Not worth for money as don't feel like been welcoming by the staffs especially those sitting at counter. Not recommend to stay.
I would rate this hotel very good but not fantastic. However, I have to admit that I was there during the Chinese New Year so things were not "normal". At checkin, the staff comand of English was a little weak so I had difficult communicating. The gym was closed, probably because of reduced staffing during new year. The amenities in the room (coffee, drinks, snacks, etc.) were not replaced when used and complementary drinking water was not provide every day. I think most of these problems were due to reduced staff because of the holiday so I would definitely try this hotel again (the location is excellent and the price is reasonable). Another hotel in this area that I would recommend is the Park Plaza, which is fantastic.
“A nice, clean hotel ”
The hotel was very nice nice and offered very good value for the money. It's very near Tiananmen Square and about 15 minutes walk from Wangfujing Subway Station. It has some nice restaurants in the vicinity as well. The staff were nice and accommodating, but not exactly overly friendly, which is normal in China. The standard room I got was clean and spacious enough for two people to be comfortable. The bathroom was clean and it offered all the necessary amenities, shower, tub, lotions, towel, hairdryer etc. If you wanted, they changed the towel and sheets daily. It also had air conditioning which was nice. The room didn't smell of cigarette or anything like that. The only "negative" thing is that if you have to exchange money at the reception desk, they absolutely won't accept damaged banknotes, even if it's a 1mm cut. It has to be completely undamaged. If I return in Beijing, I will book this hotel again, I recommend it as a place that offers good value for the money.
