We chose The Crown as it was just off the A1 and we wanted to break up our journey North. It sits on a very pretty green. There is nothing else around which makes for a peaceful night's sleep and we walked the mile and three quarters to Boroughbridge where there are several pubs etc. Plenty of parking. Friendly hardworking staff. Very clean beautiful room. Considering its quiet location and it being a Sunday evening there was still a steady flow of people through the bar and restaurant.Only comments would be that tv wasn't working and I believe from previous comments that may have been the case for some time and also when we ate Sunday evening there weren't many dishes still available on what was a small menu. All in all would still recommend for a stopover.

Reviews from previous years appeared good, so we were expecting the same. However, the place was tired. Limited use of the in-room TV due to the available remotes not working. The guest WiFi wouldn't log on, was given use of the admin network, poor coverage Food choices were limited. Ran out of most items particularly breakfast. Apparently the fridge was broken. Still was when we left. The staff didn't appear to be concerned. Won't be returning or recommending.

The pub is close to the A1M and a good halfway stop for travellers between Scotland and southern England. Set in the delightful village of Roecliffe the pub offers very comfortable rooms and excellent food. We’ll be visiting again!

“Overnight stay”
Great pub with lovely big room and double shower..probably the best shower I've ever used. Spotlessly clean. The owner left the rear door open for us to gain entry late at night after a wedding reception as the lock was a bit faulty..which was great, but no lighting to see where we were going. Breakfast was brilliant!
