Th location was ideal for my needs, the staff were friendly and helpful, but the room needs attention. The bathroom has black mold on the wall which looked as though they were trying to hide it by putting a wooden shelving unit in front of it and painted round. There has obviously been a water leak from upstairs as there is a water stain on the ceiling and the wall. Plus a few other things that you do not expect to find when spending £100+ per night.

This is not a 5star posh hotel but the people running it are extremely helpful and friendly. The food was very tasty and the tables were clean and tidy. We had a very large bedroom with comfortable bed, wardrobe, small sofa and armchair. The bathroom had a very good and easy to use shower and a small basin with very good mirror with light above it. There was also a heater for drying wet towels. They have wifi but it doesn't seem to work in the bedrooms which didn't really bother us. There was a very nice terrace with tables and umbrellas outside and a fairly large carpark.

The Pulpit Inn is in a great location very close to Portland Bill lighthouse. We arrived around 9pm as arranged to find the front doors locked so had to go round the back to find someone. We were taken in through the back of house area before being shown to our room. Our room was adequate - the bed was comfortable but there was no bed head, just screw holes with rawlplugs sticking out where the headboard should be. We couldn’t have the window open as there was no way of securing it as the peg on the frame was broken. The en-suite was clean but the shelf below the mirror over the basin was missing leaving quite large holes in the wall. The shower was nice and hot. Breakfast was fine. Overall our stay was alright, it was just one night, but it seems that the Pulpit Inn needs a bit of care and attention to raise it up to what you’d expect for the amount paid.
