A twenty or so bungalows, situated in a quiet garden, with a lot of space between them. Some have airco, some a fan. Some are old-fashion thai-style (on poles, wood and bamboo), most are modern, concrete. Ours (old fashion style) had the basic things we expect in a bungalow, except a fridge. Closet water pipe leaks a little, toilet door swings open all the time, we repair it. Two minutes walking along a path between trees leads to a fine beach, with three other small resorts with restaurant and bar, and Samita Travel Agency with a good humoured and alert lady. That small distance makes Sun Moon a relatively quiet place, where in the night we enjoyed the concert of the frogs. We kept our food well locked, because first day there were some monkeys quite eager to share our fruit. Sometimes a monitor lizard crossed our way to the beach, and we saw some pond herons tread on the water leaves. There were the usual minahs, doves and coucals. That beach is one of the last beaches in the south. Our taxidriver asked 800 Bht to bring us, but after some dealing was content with 500 Bht, and it took half an hour. The owner (Tum) and his wife do their best to maintain everything, but it was clear they lacked some capable staff. There is wifi at the entrance at the street, and there are also a restaurant and a bar (with pool billiard). The young bartenders seemed to love loud music (pop, reggae), but were quite willing to turn the level down when asked. Rental of motobikes is offered by the travel agency, and by the shop/restaurant at the opposite of the street. Another restaurant and one other shop are at walking distance. Elephant trekking round the corner, and the National Park with its beautiful trail and beaches is on two minutes motobike distance. I noticed some nasty remarks on internet about the owner and his temper. I can only add that to us Tum appeared as maybe a little bit stressed, but very friendly, courtious and helpful, as well as his wife.

“Dirty”
I booked online and could not stand more than one night. There was no light bulb in the toilet room. The hammock outside had a huge hole in the middle. I had to struggle with the lock every time I opened or closed the door. There were huge gaps between walls and the roof. Nobody understands English besides the manager. When I arrived, the manager was not there and on the phone he said he would come at 4pm and exchange money without commission. He arrived around 8pm - in the morning he wanted to subtract 2 baht for each dollar! I don't like lies so I refused to exchange money. The so-called breakfast was the worst I have ever experienced: bad coffee, very small juice and 2 eggs! The manager asked why I am leaving so early (8 in the morning) and when I told him I could not stand being in that space because of filth - he did not even apologize! One of the worst experiences ever! And I am an experienced traveler.
