Great place to stay if you're a solo traveler. The rooms are clean, the beds are comfortable and the vibe around the main and the first floor are fantastic. The staff is super helpful, and if you don't trust me wait until you meet Milicia. My angel in Jo'burg! You can leave the hostel without meeting her. She is the highlight of the place ;)

Pro : Super friendly staffs, Clean and morndern room, Good breakfast, Good location, Nice common kitchen and lobby, great occasional free walking tour. Con : Someone took continueously my stuffs in common refrigerator. 8 eggs, 1 english cucumber, some vienna sossage disappeared during my 8 nights staying.

This is a good place to stay when organizing a stay-over or short stay in Jo-burg. It is safe. The neighborhood is fine during the day but at night you should be a little careful. The facilities are good and they have activities arranged for people. The tours are quite good and the free breakfast is adequate.

The Once is an amazing “ploshtel” which has something for every type of traveller. The building is a former hotel so some of the rooms are just what you would expect for a regular hotel. And for “older” travellers like myself who do not want to do the complete hostel experience anymore, the Once is perfect. The double room is lovely with a comfortable bed, excellent bathroom and shower and a room safe to store your valuables. But if you want to go the hostel route, the first floor provides communal cooking facilities which are set up for storing your own food, a comfy hangout area, a movie room and a veranda for smokers. The "phoshtel" also provides recommendations for tours, things to do etc. although they could not help me with using the local bus system. And a real bonus is that the first floor also has an ATM which provides a much more secure setting for getting your cash. But with that said, it is the awesome staff that really makes the Once so unique!

Stayed in this property for our last part of our South Africa Trip. I truly recommend this property. Spacious Room and Clean. Good Location too. Part of my itinerary is to visit the Famous Neighbourgoods Market. This is just walking distance from the hotel. Also, this is walking distance too from THE SMOKEHOUSE AND GRILL - go grab some good steak ang ribs!

the room was already ready when we arrived (1h before Check in time). nice room but no door to the bad room. nice breakfast in the cafe next to the hostel included in the price. as well a lot of restaurants in the area.

The bookstore in the complex is great. It's a short distance from the Gautrain Park Station stop. If first time, recommend a uber due to some rough neighborhoods. There is decent security and the complex has a real vibe to it. Breakfast is free but fairly modest. They provide a free neighborhood tour and activities such as movies for guests. Overall quite clean, but there was a real bad sewage smell in the stairwell however.

Staff at the location were great and super helpful! The only slightly negative thing was the noise coming from a restaurant/bar next door in the same plaza. It may be better during the week, but it was quite loud on Friday and Saturday nights, even from the requested quiet room. Otherwise, location was perfect and very accessible for getting around Joburg. Would definitely recommend!

Once in Joburg hosts the most friendly and welcoming staff one could ask for - always there with a smile to help you wether you have a simple question or you need suggestions for what to do. A very clean and needy place with nice and spacy rooms. The hotel also offers a lot of social events as movie night, charokee or meals. This is definitely the place to stay while visiting Jozi! :-)

I’m already paid my money with this hotel booking for my friend , When he check it no any problem the confirmation is ok , and the hotel give him a key card / foog voucher but when he check out the hotel said he should pay more because my cradit card not verify for the hotel. But i’m check with my bank and Agoda company direct it show that i’m done i’m already pay. But the hotel still want me to pay. So i’m mad my money out why i have to pay doulble. When i’m look angry hotel told my sorry for this mistake.

One Guy from maintenance enter in our Room without knocking. My Rayban sunglass was stolen untill I was out in the afternoon. The Room is too noisy with music from the bar. Breakfast was confusing. The lady in breakfast was too rude.

Staff helpful, location close to beach and can walk to several interesting spots. I stayed in the single room, very basic, but good. Interesting hostel with open air courtyard.

There is a positive vibe in Once in Joburg with a lot of young tourists. Friendly staff, good breakfast included, modern & comfortable rooms, cafés, bars and restaurants at a very short walking distance, lots of options for activities within the hotel and trips outside, the opportunity to meet other people very easy. Note that if you are looking for a quiet place, this is not it! Neighbouring music goes on till midnight and beyond and it is truly load.
