Playa del Carmen, an All-Inclusive Adult Only Resort

“A fantastic resort with the most helpful and hardworking staff. V. Generous in great food and drinks”

Luxurious, super clean, comfortable, airy, great location and views. Super amenities. Great variety of menus and restaurants. The drinks flow a go-go. Good entertainment in evenings. Catered events and dinners. Hotel has great flexibility. The staff had daily special treatment for our friend that was celebrating her birthday. Incredibly helpful and upbeat staff. Our contact, Ms Sandra Patt was super organized and patient. Had daily follow ups on our list of activities. Checked in with us on regular basis. Bid us goodbyes at check out. Did I mention the spa! An endless variety of treatments. we had the best messages of our lives. There are no cons to the hotel itself only pampering, comfort and luxury ... it is paradise. The only con was the seaweed at the beach that the hotel staff cleaned on daily basis. It is an issue currently in the entire region ... hopefully a solution will be found. You need to visit and experience paradise! An experience out of this world!

“Disappointed ”

We were extremely disappointed this holiday why? this was our 2nd trip there the first was amazing 2 years ago at Playa Del Carmen, so good we rebooked a second trip for the same time over Christmas our booking was with Playa Del Carmen all inclusive with top shelve drinks. We arrived Dec 20/12/ 2018 excited never notified about the Hilton take over on the 1/11/18 2018 firstly the mini bar in our room had been removed (our previous stay was fully stocked with bottles of whiskey,Vodka etc) had been replaced with a single beer, a single lite beer &soft drinks. We proceeded to all of the Bars in resort to find all the top shelf drinks had been removed and replaced with 4 different mixes of cheap disgusting liquor from Cuba it all tasted the same, NO variety shelves were empty, also NO glasses- all glasses had been replaced with PLASTIC childlike tumblers in everybar. Was awful. A top floor front balcony collapsed concrete flew on to husbands head -would not return so disappointing

We had an amazing stay! Rooms and grounds were impeccable, an d service was amazing. We loved the choice of restaurants and bars.

My husband and I just got back from Playa and we miss it already! Even on our best trips we usually feel pretty good about heading home to our routine and bed, but this time, we didn’t want to leave! The staff were amazing. Everyone really takes care of you and every time you see a member of the staff, they ask how you are and say hello. The food is amazing too! We also met super awesome friends on this trip!

“exceptional attention to detail everywhere”

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. My only complaint are the sales people trying to sell you the real club timeshare package. Avoid those folks like the plague. They’ll pretend to be part of the main hotel staff and offer a gift or tour of the facility, in reality, they’re signing you up for their 3 plus hour presentation. I simply walked out of it after they took me into the sales room.

“Awesome stay at the Royal/Hilton Playa Del Carmen”

The Royal Playa Del Carmen (is now Hilton Playa Del Carmen) is a great all-inclusive resort. I highly recommend this property. I can't wait to go back. I loved every day I was there. The food, room, A/C, service, room service, bars, employees are all helpful and friendly. Hilton is making some upgrades. PROS: The food is really good for all inclusive (Asiana, Pelicanos, Mexican restaurant (tacos), Spice (breakfast) and Mediterranean place was good as well) The hot tubs in the rooms are really nice Drink service is good Room service has decent food Alcohol selection was good Pool is fun to hang out at all day A/C works really well through the entire resort (except the open air lobby obviously) The entertainment was best I've seen at an all inclusive Close to cenotes for day trips Right next to downtown PDC, which is fun and lots of good bars and clubs CONS: Beach is not the best here They sometimes run out of the alcohol you want Nothing else 24hr lounge food could be better

“Amazing Hotel”

The hotel was fantastic. The rooms were clean, Large and had everything that you would need. The location was amazing for people that also want to go out. It's just off 5th street but you get none of the noise. The are 7 restaurants, coffee shops and bars. Everything was included in the price. We had an ocean view room which was nice. You do pay quite a bit extra for this privilege, so its up to you if you think that this is worth it. The beach was the only let down as the was a lot of algae. This was not the hotels fault, it happens at certain times of the year in Mexico. The pools were lovely however so we still had a good time. I would recommend this hotel for groups more than couples as it can be quite busy. I did go with my wife and we did still enjoy our stay.

“great stay minus the massive seaweed”

the resort location, pool and restaurants were ideal but the beach was overrun with massive amounts of seaweed (not the resorts fault) but I would have liked to know this before booking an hotel or vacation in Playa during May 2018. from pictures this is not the norm but has been a problem for a few months.

yeah we really didn't enjoy this place... granted its not our usual type of hotel but this was just cringe from the moment we got there. Unfortunately what made this place bad were the people.. who thought the place was the ritz! to us it was just ridiculously tacky. food and drinks are well below expectations, and the pool areas surprisingly small. we had a very bizarre encounter with one of the women in the blue shirts when you first get there who tried selling the premium package, calling us 'high flyers' and then when we weren't interested just stoped the conversation abruptly. our advice, if you're European (and under 50) don't go here! you will find it too much and you'll just cringe praying for someone to get you out of there. There are soo many better hotels in mexico!

Our first all-inclusive resort and we were very pleased. I've heard that some resorts have different levels this one everyone is the same. The food & service was excellent. Within blocks from the downtown shopping area. Would go back !!

“Positive experience ”

I just got back from a trip with friends and had a pleasant experience. The staff were all anxious to please and very friendly. The resort is quite large but very clean. The only cleanliness complaint is we had the smallest ants I've ever seen at the lavatory sink area which was kind of annoying, but besides that the place was immaculate. The pool and beach area are great, but once in the ocean it's rather rocky and a few of us had some cuts from very sharp rocks, so be sure to wear some type of foot protection. While they offer a great variety of food, the flavors are sometimes very bland and miss the mark. If you find the right combo of chef/server you'll do great. We joked that the one in our group with multiple food allergies had the best luck - they will ask upon arrival if you have allergies and you get the VIP treatment and REALLY go the extra mile to make sure you don't get sick. Even the major metropolitan areas in the U.S. aren't as good about this as THE Royal was.

Totally loved the royal. Would highly recommend it. The only thing I would have liked to have changed is that I could have stayed more nights.

“The Beach is not worth the trouble ”

We have been going to Mexico Play del Carmen for 5 years now, and we decided to change our usual Hotel which is also - a REAL FIVE STAR HOTEL. Unfortunately we were seduced by the photo of the beach that this hotel was advertising. In reality it was nothing like the photo, in fact when we arrived the water was actually brown in color and there was a terrible smell. Need I continue with the beach? Now let's talk about another type of beach! For almost a month before arriving at the Hotel I had requested a late check out. I only needed 2 hours extra - it seemed simple enough - the staff at our personal check in said it would not be a problem, however when I spoke to the on duty manager, she said that I needed to vacate the premises immediately as the room was to be ocupied. I was prepared to pay for any penalties etc. however she insisted on me leaving ASAP. Now I paid for the top of the range room and expected a little cooperation, however the manager did not care that I had spent what I consider - quite a lot of money for an overrated hotel, To summarize: overpriced, rude/uncaring manager and I forgot to mention watered down beer and soft drinks. Terrible beach I do not recommend this Hotel at all
