I stayed 3 nights at Monkey Maya, and cannot say enough good things about this accommodation. It is set in Ream National Park and there are no other accommodations around making it beautiful and natural and peaceful. It is right on the ocean, and the jungle is across the road where you can do a nice walk. The food and drink in the restaurant is excellent and reasonably priced. The restaurant also serves as a gathering area/reception area/and place to just hang out and admire the view over the water. What impressed me the most is the staff who work here. They were so helpful to me in arranging my ride from the Sihnoukville Pier to Monkey Maya, but also, helped me by contacting the bus company that I am using when leaving to arrange for them to pick me up at Ream Junction making it so I don't have to backtrack into Sihnoukville when leaving. I highly recommend Monkey Maya if you are looking for a beautiful place to chill out for a few days.

Had an amazing stay at Monkey Maya. Would recommend everyone going here, if you want to avoid the crowds, relax at a lonely beach, don’t have high standards. Good drinks in the evening for reasonable prices (2 - 4,5 USD). Food between 3-6 USD.

Stayed at bungalow #5 , in description it has sea view, its true but bungalow located over the road and sea u can see through trees.. there is only fan in bungalow, no air condition, pls pay attention. They have seems the best beach at sihanoukville area. Offer u roadmap to go to jungle and see apps, we not applied as feed apps in wat leu temple.

Pros: Nice location, great food (delicious vegan options!). Food tended to trend a bit higher in price than what you find locally, but overall, it was still reasonable, and some of the best I had in Cambodia. Cons: There is no AC and it gets extremely hot, plan for lots of water-related activities. Staff smoke like chimneys in the common area, (where all socializing, eating, and drinking takes place) and encourage guests to follow suit. I understand that smoking is more common in other parts of the world when compared with the states, but I've never stayed in any hotel/hostel where the staff encouraged smoking in common areas, let alone participated in it themselves. This really left a bad taste in my mouth, both literally and figuratively, and I think the property would benefit from a no-smoking policy, which these days is a given in nearly all hotels/hostels around the world.

Monkey Maya is an amazing out-of-the-way place that offers superb beaches and jungle on the edge of Ream National Park, with pretty much no other tourists even close. We stayed in one of their more modern bungalows which was fantastic and the view from B3 was great, no complaints there. The bar area and food was faultless, very delicious and priced the same as every other place you might eat at, $4-6 for a main and $1 for a beer for example. The staff, especially Mel and her husband were very helpful and responsive, you could really feel their passion that they have for MonkeyMaya. The only shortcoming of this place is ironically the location. The pro of it’s super secluded and private location definitely outways the con, but the con is that tuk tuks to and from Monkey Maya cost just less than the bungalow for one night (we did Kampot - MM - Otres). So I would recommend a two night stay to make it slightly more worthwhile and spread the cost better.

Monkey maya had been one of my favourite memories of my time spent in Cambodia. The people are lovely and very chatty and helpful, the rooms are a good size, decorated nicely and are quite special on their stills looking out over the beach. The beach is beautiful and very clean and you can see bio-luminescent plankton at night! The jungle is a great place for a walk, we were even offered to take the live in dogs with us if we wanted it was a great was to see the local wildlife. The food was pretty good if a little expensive but only because there isnt an option to buy anything else within walking distance. Overall we loved our time here, chilling, lazing and reading - the lack of wifi was quite nice and the electricity outside of the hours of 6-12 wasn't a problem for us.

A real paradise. The disadvantage is, that there are no other options to have a meal, because this is a lonely place, nothing around - which is great of course if you are looking for such a place - but then, be prepared for higher prices of meals.

Actually, we met a bad long road way before to step on the front of MM with 3 lightly weight luggages. Staff gave us some info and 3 lemon glasses that so greatful at that time but the room is out of my will at last. We couldn't stay our night here but still hope to get back with better conditions.

Monkey maya was a perfect bungalow experience in the forefront of a national park with jungle trails and beautiful views. Our doors and windows were open the entire time while the sea breeze kept us cool and calm. The establishment was very clean and well organized. It was a good break during our backpacking trip to chill hard and relax. Loved the experience. Would love to one back one day.

Positiv:Die Lage und das sehr nette Personal und das sehr gute Essen. Man bekommt sofort guten Kontakt auch zu den anderen Reisenden. Kleine Wanderungen und Kanufahrten entlang des langen einsamen Sandstrandes sind ohne weiteres möglich. Trinkwasser kann man neben der schönen rustikalen Bar gegen eine kleine Gebühr abfüllen sofern man genug leere Plastikflaschen hat oder erst mal Volle kauft. Negativ: Die Bungalows sind sehr einfach eingerichtet und haben schon bessere Zeiten gesehen. Das Duschwasser kam im hellen Braun aus der Leitung . Hier ist halt alles noch richtig Natur. Quälend waren für mich die Sandfliegen, die mich stark attakiert haben . Die Folge waren Jede Menge entzündliche Stiche. Preventiv schützen kann man sich nur durch großflächigem Einsatz von Insektenschutz Spray oder einheimischem Kokosöl aus dem Supermarkt, den es leider nur in weiter Entfernung gibt. Also alles vorher besorgen, auch große Flaschen Trinkwasser.

Tolle Küche mit täglich neuen kreativen frischen Gerichten. Sehr nettes, zuvorkommendes, fröhliches Team. Immer lebendige und gute Stimmung. Traumhafte Sandstrandlage, schöner Ausblick. Unterstützung bei allen Buchungsangelegenheiten wie Fähren, Bus, Tuktuk, Rangertouren .... Rundum: Es war super bei Euch!!!!

“Perfect escape, 100% recommend”
Monkey Maya is the perfect place to escape the hustle of everyday life! It's the most relaxing place, the staff are fantastic, the beach is lovely, the rooms were comfortable. Everything is pretty basic, including the rooms, no wifi, no electricity during the day... but that's what makes this place so amazing. We loved it - would recommend it over and over
