Great location & chill place but still left me with a underwhelmed feel. The place is run almost completely by (western) volunteers and there are loads of them, like 10-15. This means most of them don’t do any work at all most times, but just hang around. Also, since they barely (seem to) work, they never get any good at it. But I guess they are friendly at least. Also, to put all the great reviews in perspective: free beer is given for each review written which seems like cheating the system.

Positives - chill hippie vibe, great view from common bar area to relax and watch the waves roll in - Free yoga classes, snorkeling equipment, stand up paddle boards, kayaks - Room we chose had air con and hot water (apparently rare on the island) Negatives. We provide this from the perspective of our 3 months of travelling through SE Asia, India and Sri Lanka in guest houses, home stays, hostels and hotels. We also did extensive travel through the smaller thai islands (eg Koh Mook): - The room was not clean. When we arrived there were no less than 50 massive mosquitoes in our room. Appears they leave the room doors open between guests, so mosquitoes enter freely. There was also a dead cockroach and it’s blood on the floor, squished dead bugs all over the walls. To their credit, at least the sheets were clean (but smelled of smoke). Overall, second dirtiest room we’ve stayed in our travels (dirtiest was like A$20 per night…not A$100) - There had obviously been an electrical fire on the roof. We could see black soot on the roof next to some dodgy wiring - Bed was the hardest we’d stayed on throughout all of our travels. - Advertised as “deluxe double room with balcony and sea view”. It’s a partial sea view in reality. Although room was on the sand, it faced into the balcony of another cabin. Could only see the see if sitting on your balcony and looking through two other balconies - Was sooo over priced for what it is. For perspective, it was the most expensive accommodation we had booked in our 3 months of SEA travels to date, but was certainly the dirtiest and one of the least comfortable. Understand it’s a small island and all, but we’ve stayed on many tiny thai islands and the standard of accommodation was much better for a lot less money. Plus being a small island isn’t an excuse for not cleaning properly - I also noted that we were paying more than other guests in the AC rooms, a bit disappointing but guess that’s what I booked - Place was run by “volunteers” (

Amazing location right on the beach front, 2 min walk from the pier. Rob is lovely and so were all volunteer staff. Very nice family atmosphere so if you were travelling solo would be great to feel at home. Lovely cold draught beer, smoothies and tasty v reasonably priced food. We also went on a boat trip organised by rob and the team - highly recommended! Rooms were so cute, we were in the penthouse with our own balconies, great aircon and shower which was always warm (water pressure varied but remember this is a tiny island) Rooms cleaned on request (and spotless when done) Cool vibe, Great food options - all reasonable for island prices - in M’Pai bay.

My adult daughter and stayed here for two nights. The location was perfect. Rob was very helpful with anything we wanted to do. Our only regret was that we did not stay longer.

Beach House Cambodia is located in the northern corner of M’Pai Village next to a busy bar and a local carpenter shop. “De luxe sea-view” rooms are simple and tidy with hot water and a/c. International standards would classify these rooms as 2-star hotel rooms. None of the a/c-rooms has a direct sea view: the sea can be seen when standing on the balcony or terrace behind the outdoor sitting area and vegetation. The carpenters’ workshop will wake you up at 7 am. Also the property did building and electric works during my entire stay. The almost constant drilling and hammering noises disturbed me but most of the customers were fine with it. The staff is very helpful and service minded. The atmosphere is really welcoming, cosy, relaxed and positive. The owner is doing a fantastic charity work raising money to build a health center fir the M’Pai Bey community

M’Pai Bey is a Cambodian village with normal buzzing village life and a busy fishing pier. Today the village offers tourists small rental properties, restaurants, cafes and bars. There is a longish sandy beach 15 minutes walk away in the south most end of the village. Beach House Cambodia is located in the northern corner of M’Pai Village next to a busy bar and a local carpenter shop. “De luxe sea-view” rooms are simple and tidy with hot water and a/c. International standards would classify these rooms as 2-star hotel rooms. None of the a/c-rooms has a direct sea view: the sea can be seen when standing on the balcony or terrace behind the outdoor sitting area and vegetation. We wanted to stay only 2 nights and ended up staying 4! Cosy little place, clean rooms, good food and great staff! Definitely the best place to hang out!

We had a fantastic time at beach house cambodia, the location is second to none and the room was clean and tidy. Rob is one of the nicest people we have met traveling so far and he made every effort to ensure our stay went as smooth as possible, this place is perfect for couples and solo travelers

It was too dingy, the wifi wouldnt work most of the time (even though close by places had solid wifi), the room was not cleaned before, the shared bathroom never cleaned during the stay, the faucet didnt work, there was construction so was very loud, I left a night early even though I had paid for it because I was just over the whole set up.

Once I arrived to Koh Rong Samloem I was told that the boat couldn't bring me to the beach where the hotel is and you can't walk to that area from the main pier. Once I inquired about a taxi boat in the pier I was told I would have to wait 3 hrs for the supply boat that might be able to take me.
Hi Genevieve, I’m pleased this is from someone who didn’t actually stay or visit Beach House. Yes - KRS is a beautiful, relatively big jungle island with no roads and 2 main Bays: Saracen & M’Pai Bay. You booked accommodation in M’Pai Bay and got off/booked your ferry to Saracen Bay. Your booking was 1 night on a v special rate, we were expecting you, but assumed you'd changed plan. I have briefly discussed your review with guests here - who feel it’s one of the best locations on the island. Like them, so many researched in advance and got to M’Pai Bay this season and loved it. I hope that your future travels allow a suitable research for bookings. The location is clearly marked, and ‘getting there’ is down to the travelling customer, and there are option to contact us if you need any info. Genuinely sorry you didn’t make it. Maybe you’ll find the delights of Koh Rong Samloem, beyond Saracen Bay, if you visit again. Very best of luck Beach House

Lovely room, although on the small size was still lovely- little dissapointed as agoda said private bathroom however we had to share with one other couple however this didn't cause any probs and bathroom nice and clean. Also expected wifi in room but was only in communal areas but again this is fine- rare to find wifi in room on the island. Great location and lovely host. Would stay again

I really appreciate your feedback and have since checked that both rooms in Garden House, show facilities as 'shared bathroom' (2 rooms, sharing 1 bathroom), so i hope somewhere else doesn't say otherwise. The WiFi facility is show as in 'communal areas' - so again i hope it's not misleading elsewhere either. It'll be really great to welcome you back soon ;-)

I loved to stay on koh rong samloem and obviously to stay at the Beach House. The staff is very friendly.. I can really recommend it.
